The Donegal SFC got underway yesterday with Ardara, Bundoran, St. Michael's, Four Masters, Gweedore, Naomh Conall, Sean MacCumhaills and Kilcar all enjoying wins.

The Group B clash of Gweedore and St. Eunan's in Letterkenny was certainly eventful, with both sides finishing with 13 men following the dismisssals of Odhran MacNiallais and James Carroll (both Gweedore) and Rory Carr and Sean Hensey (St. Eunan's). Niall O'Donnell converted an early penalty for St. Eunan's, but the Gaeltacht outfit fought back to win by the minimum, 0-10 to 1-6.

Naomh Conaill eased to a 4-16 to 0-6 victory over Dungloe in the other Group B tie, while Kilcar opened their title defence in Group C with a 2-9 to 0-11 win over Killybegs thanks to goals from Andrew McClean and Stephen McBrearty. Also in Group C, Sean MacCumhaills accounted for Milford on a 4-13 to 1-16 scoreline, while Donegal selector Karl Lacey scored three points for Four Masters in their 1-10 to 0-6 defeat of Malin.

There was a surprise in Group A where a late Conor Classon goal handed Ardara a 2-6 to 0-12 victory over Michael Murphy's Glenswilly. Elsewhere in the group, Bundoran overcame Burt by 1-10 to 0-5, while St. Michael's powered to a 3-16 to 0-9 win over Termon.
