"We have to get back on the horse show a bit of pride next week"

Kevin McStay hopes his Roscommon players can 'show a bit of pride' when they play host to Donegal in the second phase of the Super 8s next weekend.

After the high of edging out Armagh last Saturday for a place in the business end of the Sam Maguire Cup competition, the Rossies were brought back down to earth with a bang by Tyrone at Croke Park today when suffering a heavy 2-12 to 4-24 defeat.

"We came up here with great hope, we really felt that we were going to put it up to them," McStay remarked to RTE Sport. "We got a decent start. It was 'Steady Eddie' for the first quarter.

"You are trying to keep the margin manageable and all the runners are coming from the defence all the time and we started were getting tired and not tracking.

"Tyrone are expert at padding out the lead and in the end it looks like a lot.

"Thankfully, we have a week to recover and there is a match in seven days' time so we won't be mulling around the place we have to get back on the horse show a bit of pride next week and have a cut."
