Thanks to all the parents who brought the U6s out in such big numbers last Saturday for FUNdamentals. It continues this Saturday and with more sunshine promised we hope to see all the boys and girls back again. Well done to our U8 coaches and the boys and girls who played Cloughaneely in games on Saturday last. A fantastic mornings football with our 3 teams doing really well in all their games. Daireann will confirm this Saturday's schedule later this week. Our U9 boys were on Glenswilly for games on Thursday last and despite the small numbers the boys played very well. Any more boys born in 2009 are invited to come along to our weekly coaching to give it a try as it's the one age group where numbers are a little low. Any enquiries to Jim Boner on 087 853 7291. Coaching for 2008 and 2009 boys and girls continues this Saturday morning 10.30-11.45. Another great win for bot U12 boys teams over St Eunans B last Wednesday night. Tomorrow it's away to Gaoth Dobhair with throw in at 7pm. With tournaments in Newry and Ardara in the next few weeks it's a busy time for James, Paddy and the boys
A great start to the NRB U14 Div 1 league for our boys who came away from Mc Cumhaill Park with 2 hard earned points on Friday last. On Monday eve our U14 B team were not to be out done and they did the same and recorded s great win, their second of their league. Well done to all in both teams and thanks to Mc Cumhaills for the refreshments on both nights. Next up it's a home game against Cloughaneely this Friday for our A team7pm throw in at the Burn Road.
The perfect end to the U16 Championship League series with a 5.16 to 0.7 victory in Malin. A truly impressive team performance done superb high fielding, constant movement which Malin simply had no answer to and 11 different scorers. It was the perfect way finish their group games with 2 wins and a draw. Well done to Trevor Dan Ricky Padraig Daire and the team on qualifying for the Donegal U16 Div 1 Semi final, a fantastic achievement, and this team is improving as every week goes by. Ourselves and St Eunans will now face a toss of the coin to see who is given the no 1 place in the group as both teams have finished level on points. The County Semi final is likely to be on in the last week of June, something we are really looking forward to. We wish Pauric Tinney a speedy recovery after his recent spell in hospital. Pauric had re entry returned to the minor squad and we hope to see him back again in the near future
Our Minor team took to the field in the Burn Rd on Monday evening for their first competitive game v St Eunans .Ignoring the long list of injuries to key personnel and reputation of the Cathedral town men , our boys got stuck in in the first half and pushed very hard . They were extremely unlucky to trail by two points at half time after a softish goal made the difference in this half .We ran out of a wee bit of steam in the second half and Eunans tagged on a number of scores towards the end to run out as comfortable winners , but both management teams agreed the final score did not accurately reflect a very competitive game .Kieran Black had an impressive game at full back while the returning Darragh Doherty was a powerful presence at centre half and we are delighted to see him back in the maroon jersey . Anthony Grant kicked some fabulous scores in the first half , while Ryan Mc Fadden and the youthful Jack Alcorn picked up a lot of good ball in the middle third and never stopped running at Eunans. An encouraging night for this team against very strong opposition and plenty of positives to take into the rest of the season
Another prod day for our Minor board and for more families who have been great supporters of our teams in recent years. Congratulations to neigbhours Kevin Mc Gettigan and Mark Toye who wore the Donegal jersey for the first time when they lined out agains Fermanagh the Ulster U15 competition in Mc Cumhaill Park, indeed they were part of an 8 point victory. With games against other Ulster counties over the next 3 weekends we hope to see Manus O Connell join the ever increasing list of our young players to wear our County colors. Well done to Kevin and Mark today, indeed Kevin had to miss the early part of his brother Shea's First Communion, such are the sacrifices to play inter county football.
