Ulster club JHC final: late Mooney goal seals Eoghan Rua win

Dara Mooney scored the only goal in injury-time as Eoghan Rua of Derry defeated Down's Newry Shamrocks by 1-16 to 0-11 in the Ulster club JHC final in Dungannon.

Postponed last weekend due to an unplayable pitch, this rescheduled decider was evenly contested for most of the first half before a run of points from Dara McGoldrick, Tomas Magee and Sean Leo McGoldrick helped the Coleraine men to a 0-10 to 0-6 interval lead.

Sean Leo McGoldrick extended the winners' advantage after the restart before Newry closed the gap with frees from Artie McGuinness. However, the loss of attacker Eoin McGuinness to injury was a blow to the border town outfit and their fate was sealed when Mooney netted in stoppage-time.
