This weekend sees a return to club football and hurling action across the country.

The GAA brought a halt to all GAA activity on March 12th due to the Coronavirus pandemic and is now gearing up for the return of competitive games from this Friday.

As things stand, no more than 200 in total will be allowed to gather for this weekend’s games under government rules, including teams, mentors, officials, stewards and members of the press.

That total number is set increase to 500 next Monday if and when Ireland moves into Phase Four of easing Covid-19 restrictions.

However, current restrictions could well see just 50 supporters from each club allowed through the turnstiles throughout many venues nationwide.

With one of the lowest rates of coronavirus infections in the country, Wexford GAA yesterday released a statement hoping to have a "modest increase" in the number of people allowed attend their club championship games in the months ahead but have received no "substantive response" as of yet from the Government.
