Tipperary have drawn first blood at Semple Stadium today with their minors edging out Waterford by three points.
The scoreboard read Tipperary 3-15, Waterford 2-15 at the end of this round 2 clash.
Jack Leamy was the main scorer-in-chief for the Premier County – who lost out to Cork in the opening round - and he finished with 1-8 to his name.
1-6 of his tally came in the first-half and the hosts enjoyed a 1-9 to 1-6 advantage at the break.
Waterford – who were defeated by Clare on the opening day - were forced to play the second-half with 14 men following the dismissal of Rory Furlong for a second yellow card offence in first-half stoppage time.
Johnny Burke netted their goal in the opening period while Caolan MacCraith added a second after the break.
Tipperary hung on for the win, however, thanks to second-half goals from Conor McKelvey and Stephen Ferncombe.
