Waterford’s Jamie Barron was pleased to be back on the playing field after overcoming injury.

Last weekend’s win over Carlow was Barron’s first appearance in the league, having missed the Offaly and Laois games.

A hamstring injury kept him out of those two games and Barron told the Waterford News & Star that he wants to keep his place now with so much competition in the squad.

“I had a tear in my hamstring. Carlow was my first game back and hopefully I can hold on to the position for a while now,” said the two-time All-Star.

“The new boys are the ones pushing it on at the moment. It’s great to have new faces in every year. Jack Prendergast, Jordan Henley and Callum Lyons are all great young fellas. Hopefully, they’ll keep pushing on.”
