Dublin V Kerry - 6 Like(s)
I'm not willing to take any Kerry hyperbole seriously after drawing a January league game. Last game that mattered between the two teams Dublin won very comfortably. The media are dying to make this current rivalry legitimate and it's tough to listen to given that it's 11 whole years since Kerry beat Dublin in the Championship. At the minute they look to be picking up the Mayo mantle of running the Dubs close but not much beyond that.

Replying To GeniusGerry:  "Has nothing to do with Dublin and even if it did I doubt mayo are proud of their record there, but nice try at trolling."
The team that has competed the best with Dublin has nothing to do with Dublin? What are you talking about?

Donegal V Dublin - 5 Like(s)

Replying To TakeyourPoint.:  "Your living in the past greatpoint, stop living in the past. The reason for our confidence in Tyrone beating Donegal is that Donegal have lost 9 senior players this year, they are relying on U21s and Minors that haven't proven themselves yet and Tyrone's performances this year, seem to be on par with last year, if not slightly better. I thought Donegal were poor last year and with all the changes this year i expect them to be even worse. But this thread isn't about Tyrone V Donegal. Dublin by 10+"
This really has nothing to do with anyone living in the past, I'm a neutral observer in this so you're wasting your time trying to get a rise. You mention this thread not being about Tyrone vs. Donegal, you do understand it was your comment about Tyrone vs. Donegal that I replied to? If Donegal were poor last year then what exactly does that say about your county? Donegal controlled the game for long periods before letting Tyrone back in late on, and considering that was your only notable result last year it's tough for an outsider to take this hyperbole seriously. If you're simply going to be a blind cheerleader for your county on here no one is going to what you say seriously. You need to think a little bit deeper than that.

There's plenty of justified and legitimate criticism coming out of that match today.

Replying To kevin03:  "Seriously. Jesus the clip is clear as day. The mouth that is McMahon clearly says something to the mayo player to start the whole row."
It's the responsibility of the other players not to lose their head and react. Aidan O'Shea clearly strikes Philly McMahon on the back of the head and you're worried about what was said?

Replying To TheHermit:  "[quote=MuckrossHead:  "I also think Donegal could struggle given they've had to deal with so many players leaving within a few days of each other. They could find themselves in difficulty very quickly, especially if we come out of Letterkenny with a win on the opening day. TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts:2027 - 17/01/2017 14:29:46 The only thing you will be coming out of Letterkenny with will be a sore backside. We have not forgotten the treatment we got in Tralee last year & have been looking forward to this fixture all winter!!"
You boys started it, don't be sour because you left the Kingdom with nothing to show for it! And tell Rory Gallagher he can quit the antics on the sideline this time, he wasn't impressing anyone with his carry on..."]Come on now you're fooling no one. Donaghy chokeslammed Murphy inside the first minute

Replying To achara:  "Would you rather your county won 5 in a row or have the most all ireland wins, by a good bit! Me personally would rather more all irelands 1 in a row would be nice too:)"
Considering how many of the historical All-Irelands were won in three matches, I'd take the modern era 5 in a row hands down.

Replying To GeniusGerry:  "Mayo: 0 all Ireland's last decade Kerry: 1 All-Ireland last decade (knocking mayo out along the way) Mayo beat Kerry just once in the championship in that time, in 2017 after a replay. If you are going to troll at least do some basic fact checking."
Mayo have actually beaten Dublin in the past decade and also have a better record against them overall than Kerry, no trolling pet.

Replying To gatha:  "I agree 100% with Philly McMahon. The powers that be have diluted the game. What happened to the identity of our game? Why do we keep taking aspects of other sports and implementing into football and to a lesser degree Hurling. The Yellow and Red cards, now the Sin Bin ,the Mark even the way we shake hands before the match. I loved the way we use to go to our positions stand beside the man you were going to battle for the next hour and stand at attention for the National Anthem. Then turn and shake hands. I get the way the game is played now is not very entertaining at times, but if you watch this young Kerry team play they do remind you of what a great game it use to be, and still can be if played the way it is suppose to be."
What are you on about

Kieran Donaghy Wants GAA To Shut Down GAA Forums - 4 Like(s)

Replying To Joxer:  "Agree completely. Twitter tends to be where characters are assassinated, mind you a couple of Donaghy's compatriots made a good fist of it against a certain official from Meath last year across mainstream and social media. Like all two way channels, social media is a double edged sword. It can be your making and your breaking. Forums like this one are needed to generate decent debate between followers of the sport and as long as it is well moderated, and this one is, then no problems."
He didn't seem too concerned at all about comments directed towards figures in the GAA when it was his own county trying to orchestrate the prevention of Gough from refereeing last year's All-Ireland. Self-awareness appears to be in short supply, no surprises there though.

Replying To TheHermit:  "Oh poo, Cork got themselves knocked out of Munster. Who have Dublin ever played to win Leinster in the past decade? The system is the system, so could you Ulster boys stop convincing yourself you'd have 30 All-Ireland if only you were somewhere else because you wouldn't!"
You should take a read of Dara O'Se's latest Irish Times column where he discusses how having a "handy route" is a major advantage that Kerry has over Ulster teams, it may enlighten you.

Counties Missed Opportunities.... - 4 Like(s)

Replying To Lockjaw:  "It's a funny one. In the spring of 2012 Kerry absolutely walloped us down there. McGuinness refers to it specifically in his book as a wake up call. He even went so far as to say that he was actually glad we didn't beat Dublin in the semi final. That the team was not quite far enough along in its development to take on and beat Kerry in an All Ireland final. If we had met Kerry in the 2011 final and were beaten well who knows how it would have affected Donegal."
Would Jack O'Connor have switched to a more defensive setup to take on Donegal in 2011? I'm not so sure. He refused to in 2012, even sticking to his guns (rather ungraciously) in defeat. Hasn't been seen since.

Failed drug test - 3 Like(s)

Replying To Soma:  "Thanks Offside. But there will be 1000s of things lads can take that are not on that approved Kerry list. The only list that matters is the WADA prohibited list and what he took was not on that list, nor were any of the stated ingredients, though it was contaminated with something on that list. It's an important distinction to make."
A cursory internet search shows references to the product having prohibited ingredients so I don't know exactly how Brendan wasn't able to find anything on his Google search. In relation to contamination, the Irish Times article today states it's very unlikely that it was a contaminant as opposed to being an intentional ingredient.

Kerry V Mayo - 3 Like(s)

Replying To 37sowhat:  "Interesting statistic Both counties played Donegal in 2012 and Kildare in 2018 (championship) Mayo still had 10 of the 2012 team in action last year whilst only 2 of Kerry's 2012 outfit donned the jersey in 2018 The much maligned previous Kerry backroom gave debuts to more young footballers than any other since 1975 At a time of total transition it was amazing how Kerry competed at top table from '12 to '18 The young chickens have now come home to roost so good times should roll in the Kingdom Mayo would seem to have a huge rebuild ahead with much less talent than Kerry have Tat said league form and championship form are on a different plane So good luck to our Mayo friends"
At what point are Kerry going to be considered out of transition? We've been hearing it for the best part of a decade now, it's getting ridiculous.
