Yes i seen luke loughlin played for westmeath at the weekend and will surely be a big loss. PJ Banville wasnt on the NY team last year he was already away back to Wexford.

It seems we have a lot of new players in town since last year none of whom are signed with a club as of yet. Are they legal to play or train with New York county team. Shouldn't they have played in the championship to be legal? Or does anyone know the rule?

When do these players have to commit to a club?

Any truth to the rumour that Cavan will not have a team in the senior section this year? Gaa Fan (USA) - Posts: 497 - 09/03/2017 19:59:43 1965799 Link 0 0 |
The word on the street is that cavan and cork are gone from senior. What a mess. The GAA board in NY should be ashamed for letting the whole situation getting out of hand. Football finished now for sure. standman99 (Offaly) - Posts: 72 - 10/03/2017 15:30:37 1966013 Link 0 0 |
I hear Monaghan, Donegal and bizarrely Westmeath are the only senior teams this year. Joke shop pauk123 (USA) - Posts: 188 - 10/03/2017 20:23:02 1966065 Link 0 0 |
Cavan should be made go up, they won Inter after dropping out of the Senior division, they have no excuses not to go up. As always, there is a lot of rumors floating around about different things. Just heard this past weekend that a former NY star has taken over the Barnabas senior setup, so to all the rumors of them folding, I guess its not true. Don't understand how Westmeath can jump from Junior A to Senior in 2 seasons without winning a title....mind numbing to be honest. ARE ST BARNABAS NOT SENIOR THIS YEAR newyorklad (USA) - Posts: 111 - 13/03/2017 13:25:46 1966702 Link 0 0 |
Absolute joke if its true cavan arent playing senior, especially after dropping down to intermediate and winning the championship straight away. Only good reason is if a large core of their players are transferring away, which then again raises the money issue. carlow80s (Carlow) - Posts: 7 - 14/03/2017 01:16:35 1966879 Link 0 0 |
So with Cavan and Cork gone it's down to 4 teams in senior. Was predicted some time ago that we were heading towards a Chicago situation and now it has arrived. Crossgaa (Mayo) - Posts: 535 - 14/03/2017 10:26:43 1966912 Link 0 0 |

Heard scheduling is starting tomorrow night for Junior, Inter and Senior divisions, so we should all know soon enough how the divisions are situated. Think Junior B has Rangers, Manhattan, Long Island, Offaly, Celtics and St. Pats. Junior A will have Barnabas, Rockland, Dublin, Armagh, St. Rays, Monaghan and Manhattan Gaels. Inters should have Mayo, Brooklyn, Rockland, Tyrone, Rangers, Kerry, Sligo, Longford, Westmeath. Don't know what the story is with Cavan, Cork, or the rumors of 3 county teams going Senior when only 1 (Cavan) have earned that right (even though they don't want to go). Think the powers to be need to clarify all this by the weekend, hopefully they will. NarrowBack914 (USA) - Posts: 176 - 15/03/2017 16:52:21 1967342 Link 0 0 |
so st barnabas are also dropping from senior to Junior A? or the team in junior A is their second team? NYCcavanman (USA) - Posts: 202 - 15/03/2017 20:51:01 1967398 Link 0 0 |
I meant Cork are going to Junior from senior last season. Spells disaster for junior division especially if Barnabas are also coming down.

St. Barnabas will have two teams. The team the won the Junior B is moving to Junior A and they will also still have a senior team NYkid93 (USA) - Posts: 2 - 16/03/2017 15:04:29 1967602 Link 0 0 |
