Meath V Cork - 4 Like(s)

Replying To Furlong1949:  "1 Cork have a team with players with loads of provincial minor and under 21 medals and 3 All Ireland winning Under 21 Titles. Meath have a team with no underage medals whatsoever at any level 2 Tipperary have a team with players with minor All Ireland medals and were Under 21 All Ireland finalsit. The most talented underage players Tipp have ever produced Meath have not won leinster minor title in ten years . 3 Cavan have a team full of players who won 5 consecutive Ulster titles in row. Making them most talented and sucessful underage footballers Cavan have produced in half a century. Meath havent won an leinster under 21 title in 16 years. Meath last 3 losees are three counties who have had massive unprecedented underage sucess. With tge exception of 2011 minors we have had no sucess. That sucess has meant those Tipp and Cavan players and even Cork players have an inner confidence from these sucesees, we dont. These young Meath players have had bad experiences at underage and senior level in the Meath jersey. It will take time to improve their mentality. it will take years not months. Get ridding of the manager. Well we tried that before. How did go for us? . We have had 7 managers in 12 years. Changing the manager aint gonna solve any problems. It will take things worse. Keep sacking, keep declining. And if u believe McEntee should do, If so please name this top class manager inside the county and outside county that will lead us to sucess.( And dont mention Horan or McGuiness they are not coming to Meath). Name 1 candidate, any candidate, just 1 thats all. Also it is noticeable today that Cork looked more an Atletic team then us today. Cork are a big atletic team. We are the smallest team in the country. When we play big atletic teams like Cork Kildare or Dublin we struggle. There is very little Andy can do here. He cannot make the players grow bigger overnight . I believe then our players reach 25 26 27 they will be physically have more know how and the physique to compete better with big powerful teams. We have to be patient. And not go into over the top knee jerk meltdown when we lose."
Andy has brought us back... if this was Mick o he would be slated

Has anyone got a number for Martin Ennis. This would not have happened under his stewardship. We have lost our swagger. Have we to beg Martin or do you think he will come gladly?

Replying To Redsalltheway:  "Ridiculous comment. Current management and players are putting huge effort to improve Meath hurling. Meath hurlers currently have all club hurlers wanting to play for Meath unlike the the past management, they're a better conditioned team too, while previous management did a good job it was Tier 3 which is vastly weaker, also hurling fans need to remember last year Meath hurlers got Relegated from this Tier 2 Competition last year only for our Countyboard to fight and get us reinstated this year. This is a really good competition and standard of hurling is very high. Against Antrim was disappointing, we start great and then stopped playing, Antrim were bigger than us and maybe had just more skilful hurlers than us. Players will just have to regroup for Westmeath while I'm sure management will make changes as panel of players look strong. We need to continue supporting this team and not have negative vibes/comments being thrown at them."
I see many failings with this statement but the main one I'll open for discussion is better conditioned. I left Navan yesterday and wondered how we performed v Antrim twice in Croke Park with such energy and effort compared to yesterday. So I feel there is a huge failing in the S&C side of things. The S&C coach that was part of Ennis set up was some boxing fella and had them absolutely bouncing. It would be worth pointing out that while lads maybe want to play again... are they actually up to the level of playing??

Replying To MillerX:  "We will have to treat the Carlow game as a barometer of wher we stand. A performance win lose or draw is essential. I for one am not reading too much into one bad outing in the league, after all Martin Ennis' team had two outings in 2016 losing to both Mayo and Armagh at HOME in the league yet still won the Christy Ring later that year. Incidentally Mayo and Armagh played in the Nicky Rackard final the same day. Also as a light team improving ground will suit us better in the McDonagh Cup. (Hopefully)"
Marsh, Kelly, Keena, Togher, Reagan, Walsh, Canneely, O Maolaoid, Weir..... light.... I'd say you need to check them scales

Replying To crannumber2:  "Goin forward from where???,"
Last year Derry won Rackard, Wicklow was in league final, Armagh was division above. Down had got annihilated in Meath. Now a year later down are within a whisker of going to league final with a young team that will be about for a good few years. Is that not thought of as improvement?

That was a shambles. All those saying swallows and summers and lads wanting to play in an attempt to belittle what Ennis achieved really need to be honest. Never mind the trophies he won!! His teams at least had a go!!!!

McCullough is the answer. Has worked with these lads before, winning ring & league & since has moved on to win championship with ballyboden and last year was with the Dubs. Rumour his car has been spotted round kiltale too.

2018 FIXTURES - Allianz Hurling League Roinn 2B - 1 Like(s)

Replying To bricktop:  "Finals are for winning and this one was winnable and that's the sad part. The goal was crucial and sadly my clubmate went down on the ball too quickly and was caught in no mans land. He needed to keep on his feet for longer to be able to respond to whatever happened. He's a tendency to do this and needs to eradicate it out of his game. Forwards didn't create and finish off enough to give us a platform to win a game either. You're never going to win a game with 13 points. Young team, but we need to be making inroads and get out of 2B."
U not think manager leaving at half time had a bigger impact than the goal?

Replying To bricktop:  "Always good to get a win on the road, so fair play to them, but if we've aspirations Wicklow should not be seen as an issue. Donegal beat us two years ago up there but we still should have too much for them. As the bearded Tyrone man says..."
Wicklow won the league that we simply cannot seem to.... so I disagree that Wicklow are not an issue. Everyone in this competition is an issue. So good luck Paudie up in the hills for your next issue!!!

Forde gone to America and I'm sorry the 2 super star returns haven't done it for me. There is no doubt Ragan is a legend of a free taker but he contributes next to nothing from play & as the championship rolls around the free count is going to go down. Tougher looks well n all but his most memorable contribution to the league was coming off injured. I'm really starting to think Martin Ennis knew what he was at

League And Championship Predictions - 1 Like(s)

Replying To PaudieSull1:  "Anyone denying that this Dunloy has the potential to develop into something special are living in cloud cuckoo land....yeah Slaughtneil may get in among them and make it difficult in a couple of weeks time but in the medium term this Dunloy team will dominate Ulster and are in with every chance of an all Ireland in time..."
What do you really know about teams in Clare, waterford, Kilkenny etc. Not for one second denying this Dunloy team have potential, likewise I'll not for one second rule out slaughtneils prowess but I just think people on here trying to talk with authority on where teams stand in comparison to the rest of the country is crazy just because they are maybe in some position within a county and feel that makes them important. God sake Ballycran didn't even know what Dunloy had from the result never mind what some team from Galway has.
