Ballyhale Shamrocks and Kilkenny forward Colin Fennelly has given up more than most in the pursuit of success on the field this year.

Ballyhale’s Leinster club triumph last weekend means that Fennelly will miss out on his fourth holiday over the course of the last couple of months.

Fennelly was due to go to New York with the rest of the Kilkenny squad for the Classic Hurling Tournament, but he and his Ballyhale team mates TJ Reid, Joey Holden, Richie Reid, Evan Shefflin, Darren and Adrian Mullen were forced to pull out because of Leinster club SHC action.

Last week, Fennelly was due to go to Abu Dhabi with the All-Stars, but he had to pull out of that too, while he and his team mates will miss Kilkenny’s holiday in Florida after Christmas as they prepare for the All-Ireland club SHC semi-final.

Throw in the fact that he had booked a holiday in Cancun, Mexico along with a couple of his Kilkenny team mates and others for January, which he has now pulled out of and you could forgive the talented forward for being a bit fed up, but that is certainly not the case.

“Look, I have an All-Ireland semi final to look forward to, Fennelly told the Kilkenny People. “I will be down a few euro, but it will be worth it if we can get to the final. I am the one who loses out.”
