Kevin McStay has insisted that the Connacht SFC final will be played in Dr Hyde Park and nowhere else should Galway be Roscommon's opponents.

As expected, the Rossies made light work of Leitrim in Carrick-on-Shannon last evening to qualify for the provincial decider on June 17. The rota system entitles Kevin McStay's men to host Galway in their next championship game, but it was reported during the week that Hyde Park may be ruled out due to capacity and safety-related issues.

The Hyde currently has a capacity of 18,000, which is 8,000 less than Pearse Stadium, which is where the final could yet be played if Galway beat Sligo in the second Connacht SFC semi-final next weekend.

But McStay has made it clear that won't be happening.

"We are in a Connacht final, we have the home venue," he said.

"It will be played in The Hyde. I have no doubt it will. We will certainly be turning up in The Hyde. I hope someone else is there to meet us on the day. We would be very, very absolute about that."

McStay accepted that the final would be played in Castlebar in the event of Sligo shocking Galway.
