Today we witnessed a bit of history in the GAA as the newly formed All-Ireland SFC Super 8's began.

The eagerly anticipated 'quarterfinals' started with a double header in Croke Park as Tyrone met Roscommon at 5pm and then Dublin took on Donegal at 7pm.

The first of the All-Ireland SHC quarterfinals also took place as Clare and Wexford met in what had been billed as the 'Davy factor' at Pairc Ui Chaoimh (3pm).

Also in football, we had the All-Ireland under-20 semi-finals as Kerry played Kildare and Mayo clashed with Derry. Both these games threw in at 4pm.
