Meath V Dublin - 10 Like(s)

Replying To brian:  "Meath didn't win that game.... you're truly embarrassing yourself now No pal you lost, Meath scored 5 second half goals and ripped Kildare an absolute new ass. The game is played over 70 minutes not 35... imagine Meath gave you a 6 point lead that day and still won by 9. Your choice of words is absolutely abysmal."
Meath got 5 goals to win game last year, won't happen again anytime soon, freak result. Same as the time you beat Dublin the day you got all the goals . The Meath lads were crying into each others arms a few weeks ago after Kildare beat them and now as easy win against Longford has them all deluded again.

Replying To royaldunne:  "[quote=jimski:  " As for Kildare ? I fully expect Westmeath to win. Westmeath were a better team against us in league than Kildare (yes we won against them and lost v Kildare) but we were atrocious against Kildare and pretty good against Westmeath if that makes sense . No, it doesn't makes any sense. But don't let that stop you!"
As Meath played well enough v Westmeath and won by a point. Worst Meath performance of last few years was against Kildare , and it took a sublime save in injury time not to go to extra time. It makes sense looking at it like that."]Are you forgetting the first 55/60 minutes when Kildare wiped Meath off the pitch? Only for taking our foot off the pedal, something we are doing far too regularly, it would have been a double digit victory. You worry about yourselves and we'll worry about Westmeath. Utterly pathetic performance from Meath. I think they may reevaluate their opinion of themselves after that. Obviously put everything into the league when teams weren't at full throttle

Couldn't agree more it's ridiculous stuff and you need look no further than your manager for it.

Dublin - Kildare final"]You seem fierce worried about Meath for some reason though... A game is 70 minutes long, taking your foot off the pedal is inexcusable... saying ot would've been a double digit victory otherwise is the the equivalent to if your granny had balls... playing for 55/60 minutes isn't good enough if you can't get the job done on the day. Admittedly yes you finished the job on the day and I've no complaints as a Meath man. We weren't close to good enough And you're right you should worry about Westmeath because they'll not be easily beaten, we know that here in Meath they're never easily beaten and given the respect they deserve"]I'm well aware it's 70 plus minutes. I was replying to a Meath poster who tried to summarise the game into the last 20 seconds. Kildare are in no position to take anybody lightly and I'm sure they won't

Dublin V Carlow - 5 Like(s)

Replying To Monaghansclown:  "Don't think even a 'David vs Goliath' title would do this one any justice. Great win by Carlow yesterday but every game in Leinster is a mismatch and it is by far the least competitive Championship. Think this one is a case of how much Carlow can hold Dublin to. I think if they held Dublin to 20 points it would be a good result for Carlow and then hopefully get a run in the back door. Cant stop thinking about how competitive Leinster would be if Dublin weren't in it. It would be a really exciting championship. Maybe its time the GAA consider getting Dublin to compete in the Ulster Championship in the same way Galway have entered Leinster in hurling. Just a thought.........."
Dublin would do the exact same in Ulster with only Tyrone and maybe Donegal the odd time putting up a worthwhile challenge. None of the others would come close

Not good for Meath. Had an under strength Donegal beaten but bottled it. Seem to be relying on some younger lads now as older faces just simply past it.

Replying To royaldunne:  "Good lad thanks for your observation. Now run along and try to.figure out how Kildare can get beat by less than 16 points this time by dubs"
Touchy. Fair observation I thought seen as your a division 2 side for last few years and Sligo have been between there and division 3. We'll worry about the final when it comes around, nice problem to have all the same

Armagh by 3 or 4 even without Clarke. Meath have played 2 under strength teams so far and I think they might have a rude awakening this weekend.

Match panned out pretty much to form. 2 mid to lower level teams involved in a tight affair where home advantage was enough to swing it. End of the line for Meath me thinks

Kildare V Meath - 2 Like(s)

Replying To Furlong1949:  "Yes we have had bad results no doubt. That's part of sport you have good days and bad days. But we have had many more good days then bad days then Kildare. Kildare have a worst record then Meath by a mile. Ye we lose but we also beat he the top teams. Kildare cannot beat the top teams. And this has been going for nearly a hundred years for nearly a century of football. You have to back to the 1920s when kildare were beaten Kerry and Dublin and Galway. Kildare have only beaten one top 6 in any given year outside the provience in the last 90 years. That was the win over Kerry in 98. If you take every year since 1928 Kildare have not beaten a top 6 in any year outside Leinster with the exception of 98 v Kerry. How do I draw that conclusion. Well In the 40s 60s 80s Kildare did not win a leinster. While when they won a title in the 30s and 50s they lost the semi final. In 2000 they lost to Galway . And under McGeeney Kildare could not beat a top 6 team inside or outside the provience. Meath probaly have beaten up to 30 top teams in the same period. 1 Kildare have only beaten Dublin in 1 leinster final in 90 years. Meath have beaten Dublin in 7 leinster finals in 30 years. 2 Kildare have only played in 1 senior All Ireland final in 90 years. In the same period Meath have played in 18 All Ireland senior finals . So Meath were 18 times more likely to reach final then Kildare. 3 Kildare have never won Division 1 league title. Meath have 7 Division 1 league title. 4 Kildare have never won an minor All Ireland. Meath have won 3. 5 Kildare have 15 All stars. Meat have 49 All stars. 6 Kildare have never had All Ireland senior inter county winning manger. Meath have had 3 All Ireland senior inter county managers. 7Meath have the best record in the country v Dublin. Kildare have one of the worst records in the country v Dublin. Meath have one of the best records in the county v the top sucessful counties. Kildare have one of the worst. 8 In the 1940s 1950s 1960s 1970s 1980s while Meath were producing All Ireland winning team one after another Kildare were a division 3 Division 4 and sometimes a division 2 county at best. 9 Finally since Kildare have last one Sam in the when W T Cosgrove was Toaiseach and Hoover was president and the civil war had just ended. Since then Meath have won 7 All Ireland senior titles with only kerry and Dublin winning more. I wonder why you didn't mentioned the above results. You would rather bring up Meaths bad results. If we talking about Kildare bad results we would be here all night."
Embarrased for you ....

Replying To The_Fridge:  "According to the Irish News Connolly is going to appeal his ban? Is he right?
This saga keeps going."
Quite surprised that this is being appealed. Whether you think he was hardly done by or not this is going to rumble on for weeks and no matter what Dublin say it surely can't help their cause with the constant media scrutiny and speculation it's going to bring. Really thought they'd let it go and hope for him to come back for AI Semi should they get there
