Meath V Dublin - 9 Like(s)

Replying To royaldunne:  "I fully expect Dublin to win too. Although come the day I will have convinced myself and anyone else who listens that there is no way we won't win. But that is a different story. :). Tbh Meath have been poor this year with the exception of yesterday (you can only beat what in front of you ) gk still a big problem IMO, midfield without either menton or Jones is from last year I think is also a worry. That been said harnan is doing a good job. The pluses ? Morris has matured and is in great form, joey wallace has started to look like the exciting player we all thought he could be, Newman is back (probably just has 35 in legs at this stage) but still it's a plus having that experience around this very young team. Hickey is a outstanding player that likely will become a Meath great over the next 10 years fionn Reilly also looks in that mould, Mathew Costello too. The real plus I took from yesterday was the return of James mcentee, he looked sublime and is a tough player. He has been greatly missed. ( see I'm already convincing myself we can win). But I think Andy has reached all he can do with this team, we are in a better place now than when he came in, but I feel we have stagnated a bit. And that is never good, a new voice to kick us on again will probably be required for next year. On a side note Dublin best performance last year came against Meath , no matter what has happened Dublin will perform a hell lot better than v Wexford when they see the green tops. As for Kildare ? I fully expect Westmeath to win. Westmeath were a better team against us in league than Kildare (yes we won against them and lost v Kildare) but we were atrocious against Kildare and pretty good against Westmeath if that makes sense . So for me it's a Meath v Westmeath Leinster final. :)."

No, it doesn't makes any sense. But don't let that stop you!

If Cavan Beat Dublin. What Shock Equates? - 8 Like(s)

Replying To fainleog:  "Cavan started very well but Cavan are been turned over too easily. There has been a couple of bad wides by Cavan but Dublin look very proffessional."
Look very professional? They are professional 15 point gap in an All Ireland semi-final. Like watching paint dry.

Replying To Donegal_abroad:  "Is there still a football championship in Leinster?"
If Dublin were in Ulster there wouldn't be much of a championship there either.

Replying To superbluedub:  "Did u watch Dublin v Wexford ?"
It will have little or no relevance for the game v Meath. Amazing how many of the Dub supporters on here are talking down Dublin and bigging up the opposition. You must think we all came down in the last shower! 8 All-Irelands in the last 10 years and 15 out of the last 16 Leinster titles and all of a sudden they're worried about getting out of Leinster!

Replying To Whammo86:  "How do you say something like that? Dublin hammered Kildare in the semifinals."
Kildare "only" lost by 15 points and at least we scored 11 points.

Falling Football Attendances - 6 Like(s)
So James Horan has stated some of the reasons for the fall in attendances in 2018 despite more games as follows - condensed championship - Mayo's early exit - Galway playing Dublin again (!) So nothing to do with Dublin and opposition county fans not being interested in un-competitive games being played in Croke Park?

Does GAA get fair coverage compared to soccer and rugby - 6 Like(s)

Replying To hill16no1man:  "So we should only report on the good things from British soccer ahead of our own sport of the day, but on the bad news area we should not report on bad things across the water and solely focus on irish bad sport news is that what you are implying"
So you are suggesting that RTE should report on sectarian incidents at a soccer match in Scotland and other incidents at a soccer match in England in order to give balanced coverage following an incident at a GAA match in Sligo? Do you think that if RTE Six One News show other incidents from other sports it will somehow mitigate the reputational damage the Sligo incident has caused. Truly bizarre! As regards Mediamoan, he throws in these random, damaging comments blindly ignoring the facts that for the last 4 weekends RTE has had blanket coverage of GAA (2 football semis, hurling final and camogie finals) - on radio and on TV, endless positive coverage but one incident in Sligo, covered by every media outlet in the country is all he focuses on. Has he checked that all those media outlets have given coverage of so-called negative incidents deom other sports to balance the negative GAA coverage? No chance. But that doesn't fit with his agenda. The guy is obsessed with Six One News and from previous posts it is obvious that he has personal issues with the people on that News programme (for whatever reason) and this thread is his means to get at them.

All-Ireland Senior Football Championship 2023 - 5 Like(s)

Replying To CiarraiMick:  "I have to say my heart goes out to Armagh. The last 3 big games they lose are on penalties. Galway quarter final last year. This year's Ulster final v Derry and today. So unlucky. Well done Monaghan but anyone with a heart had to feel for Armagh."
The 3 teams they have lost to on pens have won big games in normal time. Armagh are not able to win big games in normal time - not unlucky and it's a trend with McGeeney during his time with both Kildare and Armagh

Meath V Dublin Leinster Final. - 5 Like(s)
10 Leinster titles in a row and 15 of the last 16: 5 All Irelands (soon to be 6) in a row, and 7 of the last 9 - how many more teams need to be humiliated in Croke Park for the GAA to realise that they have killed the All Ireland Football Championship? This is the equivalent of the All Blacks playing Garryowen, or Barcelona (at their peak) playing Home Farm. Professionals versus amateurs.

Replying To skirge7:  "Forward mark should go. Funding needs to be addressed. Leinster counties not as bad as Dublin make them look."
If Dublin were playing in the Ulster Championship, that championship would be as dead as the Leinster Championship now is.

Dublin vs Monaghan - 5 Like(s)

Replying To royaldunne:  "Look regardless of what you like to think Kildare are USELESS, I still don't no how you beat Meath, perhaps we are worse, it would seem so, but yes got hammered by Dublin who hardly got out of first gear then lost to a team who couldn't get out of division 3 and were destroyed by Tyrone, again Kildare like every other Leinster team are useless and big improvement has to be made by both counties and likes of Laois Westmeath to even come close to been competitive, like I said Carlow gave Dublin a better game than Kildare or Westmeath. You may not like that but it's a fact."
"I still don't no how you beat Meath, perhaps we are worse". Perhaps?? Were you not at the games this year?? We beat Meath twice this year once by 9 point and once by 10 points. So if we're useless we can clearly state that Meath are WORSE THAN USELESS

Dublin v Kildare - 5 Like(s)

Replying To waynoI:  "I don't know if id agree that Kildare's physical fitness will be close to par. Probably depend on the weather. If its a scorcher then I'd worry about Kildares physical fitness. Now I know they played in unreal temperatures in Tullamore, but as mentioned before, Meath didn't half help them with their naïve, stupid tactics. Its likely Kildare will be doing a lot more running against the Dubs. Id be surprised to see Kildare physically put it to Dublin for 50 of the 70 minutes but even if they do match Dublin for physical fitness, Its their mental fitness that could be their downfall. What will happen to this young Kildare team if they go 5 or 6 down at any stage but particularly early on ? How will the confidence hold against an insanely motivated Dublin panel who have serious competition for places. We generally get purple patches and make hay, how will kildare fare with that ? How will they cope knowing that potentially at some point they could be a few points down, and a Con O'Callaghan may come off, and a Bernard Brogan may come on ? Mentally how do you prepare yourself to chase one of the games stars like say, Ciaran Kilkenny, Only for him to see the line and a potential rocket like Kevin McManamon come on in his place ? Or if you have Mick Fitz up your bonnet and youre getting very little change, seeing him make way and Philly McMahon coming in. Fellas who have All Ireland medals coming out of their ears in recent years, All stars. You name it, they got it. Its a totally different proposition for the likes of Kildare coming up against the Dublin and Kerrys of this world, than beating teams in D2. Kildare's physical and mental fitness has to be on point for 70 minutes and Dublin will still hold the aces of know how, experience, confidence of champions to keep eating away. And to twist it. IF Kildare take a lead at some point, Dublin wont fall away like Meath did and just take it on the chin. Will they have the resolve to hold Dublin out if they do get into a winning position. Youre right though, its a decent young team and this game will bring them on."
After reading that it's probably not worth our while turning up. And as for your last comment - how patronising can you get!

Did Meath Mentally Collapse Yesterday? - 5 Like(s)

Replying To royaldunne:  "I don't want to see anybody who wasn't at yesterday's game at the next one. I drove in snow to ballybofey, and drove home. I drove almost twice to ennis (turning back halfway there due to cancellation) but next day out again, I drove on a Saturday afternoon to pairc ui rinn and drove home , I drove to portlaoise, and 3 times to Croke Park. I don't want to see anyone at the next game who couldn't bother their ass to go to a Leinster final. Rant over."
What right have you got to say who should or shouldn't go to a football match??? If you're happy with the status quo in Leinster that's your right but many more aren't happy and have a right to demonstrate that.

Can the GAA survive the Rugby onslaught - 4 Like(s)
What's happened??? I thought RTE were to blame for all the problems that have befallen GAA games coverage and development over the last few months and years (and specifically the RTE Six One News)? So it might actually be to do with the GAA organisation itself? Maybe the penny has finally dropped.

All Ireland Football Final 2020 - Dublin V Mayo - 4 Like(s)

Replying To TheDubz10:  "Great game in the End, no issues with Football at the min after that game, both teams went hard at it and Dubs just got the luck today and the run of the ball, moral victory to the west though, they will be back stronger next year you can count on that."
Moral victory to the west?? How patronising!! Dublin spent most of the last 10-15 minuted passing it around in their own half - never under threat. Yet again professional v real amateurs

Kildare V Mayo - 3 Like(s)

Replying To TheUsername:  "Just my opinion, ive played at the ground and been there i would say well over 100 times. Roads will be gridlocked, no parking, there is one stand and grassy verges, the stand if it holds 1000 people its doing well, one terrace. The one narrow entrance and exit is straight onto the busy main street and a narrow foot path. Ive been to county finals, OB Cup games in it and its been ropey. It really is an awful venue thats not fit for purpose, if a crowd of 15l-20k turn up it wont be safe its that simple really. The ground isnt fit for purpose or safe in my opinion."
You are talking absolute rubbish as to your description of the ground and its environs. It was fine for 4 League games earlier this year. And as regards a big crowd turning up - have you heard of all-ticket games?? We are allowed to have them down the country as well!
