Moorefield manager Ross Glavin wasn't impressed with the performance of referee Barry Tierney in yesterday's Leinster club SFC quarter-final against Portlaoise.

Glavin felt Ian Meehan should have been awarded an injury-time penalty and an opportunity for his side to force extra-time.

"The referee had a chance to redeem a lot of his decisions and even it up because I thought we found it an awful lot more difficult to get frees," he said of the Dublin match official after the holders relinquished their grip on the Sean McCabe Cup.

"I'm not saying he had a poor performance, I'm just saying that they found it easier to get frees than we did. That was one that some referees could have given and some didn't."

Glavin believes there is no reason why the two-in-a-row Kildare champions can't bounce back next year.

"If we can keep all the group together, I think every single one of us will be happy to be involved. It's a huge privilege managing your own club and it's a huge privilege managing Moorefield when you're county champions," he added in the Irish Daily Star.
