McGill: Royals fully focussed on Faithfuls

Meath's Conor McGill

Conor McGill insists Meath can’t afford to look past Offaly in this year’s Leinster SFC.

Having secured promotion to Division One, the Royal County will be expected to push on and reach the provincial final – with Dublin and Kildare on the other side of the draw – but full back McGill is adamant that Andy McEntee’s men can’t look beyond their May 12th opener:

“You can't look past the first round,” the Ratoath clubman is quoted in The Irish Independent. “If you look past the first round to see who you might be playing the next day, you get caught out.

“Everything we're doing, we're just focusing on Offaly. If we get over them, then we'll look on to a quarter-final but you see it so often in championship games or one-off games that the so-called favourite might be looking past it and they get caught on the hop.

“So everything we do is going to be focusing on Offaly and we'll take it from there.”
