Crokes to appeal Buckley ban

Dr Crokes' Johnny Buckley is sent off by Sean Hurson during the All-Ireland club SFC semi-final against Mullinalaghta

Dr Crokes are to appeal the straight red card handed to midfielder Johnny Buckley during last weekend’s All-Ireland club SFC semi-final.

Buckley was shown a straight red card for an off the ball incident during the first half of the clash against surprise packets Mullinalaghta.

Crokes went on to win the game after a titanic battle against the Leinster minnows, but the victory came at a price as their former county midfielder was handed a one-match ban.

This would rule him out of the All-Ireland club SFC final against defending champions Corofin at Croke Park on St Patrick’s Day.

However, the club have confirmed that they are to appeal the suspension handed down by the GAA’s Central Competitions Control Committee.
