What is it with Limerick posters coming on here having digs at Galway? Must be still worried about us it seems!

Yes a very poor display by Galway and they looked slow and heavy legged without any real direction in their play. They also didn't even threaten a goal for the second game in a row. Without Whelan in the full-forward line they are toothless in attack and Cathal Mannion had an off day also which didn't help. Daithi Burke and Darach Fahy gave away a gift of a goal when Galway were level in the second half which killed any momentum they had. Wexford fully deserved their win in fairness even though they are no world beaters themselves. Hard to see Galway winning anything this year (even the league) at this stage.

Replying To Ayeartilmonday:  "The reputations of some players who haven't played in ages seem to have inhanced after the mayo game.... Just waiting for someone to say Gary Fahy would still do a job"
No but I was thinking that the likes of Kieran Fitzgerald would certainly have been better than SAOC the last day. I think SAOC is still living off that decent U21 AI campaign he had 3 years ago. I don't think I have seen him play a good game for Galway yet - he has either been very poor or average at best. In saying that I don't think I have seen Liam Silke or Cillian McDaid play a decent senior game for Galway either despite many posters here continuously picking them in their teams.

Armagh Vs Galway - 5 Like(s)

Replying To updwell:  "Were Galway totally innocent here lads?"
The answer is yes as there were several off the ball incidents instigated by Armagh players that left Galway players on the ground hurt which the ref and linesmen were somehow blind to and obviously you were blind to also but what would a Limerick man know about football anyway? Stick to the small ball!

Replying To katser:  "I think that was one of the worst Full Back lines I've ever seen in a Galway Jersey apart from '93 Murt,Treacy and Helebert!! I'm giving no credit to the dubs because Galway were rotten bad, slow and loose....Dublin scored with nobody marking them!"
Don't knock that 93 fullback line too much - they got to an AI Final after beating a good Tipp team and ran KK close! Say what you like but they were tough strong men in 93 unlike what was out last Sunday.

In fairness that is only 1 poster out of several. I think you will notice most Galway posters are certainly not underrating Roscommon and most say it will be a dogfight with little to separate the teams as do I.

Replying To foreveryoung:  "As soon as Galway starts putting its muscle where it's mouth is, then perhaps my comments could become a bit more positive. I ain't anti-Galway by any means; the Connolly's, Keady, Hayes, Lane, and Joe Cooney were as fine as any county ever produced. I loved those guys, and the way they hurled and carried themselves. It's just that I don't particularly like idle talk. And there's been quite a bit of it over the past four years about/within Galway hurling. Match up, or shut up, Tommeen!"
My name is Tommy K so call me by my full name "young"! I have never "mouthed" and had "idle talk" (whatever that means!) about Galway hurlers in any way and Galway people are the worst critics of the team in general if you'd care to look carefully at the various fora but I suppose a good soundbite is what you're really good at. You didn't even know that Ollie Canning worked for Sky and not RTE when you disparagingly (and as usual incorrectly) stated Joe would be joining him in RTE as you said that "RTE loves Joe". Get your facts right before you come on here spouting your rubbish.

Donegal went 31 minutes without scoring in the second half and then get 3 points in about 5 mins. Galway lost the last 10 mins (including 5 mins injury time) by 3 points to 1 point to keep their unwanted "record" of losing this vital period to nearly all teams they have played in competitive matches for the last 2 years. Not good enough at this level I'm afraid.

Can you tell us all where you're from then and stop hiding your light under a bushel?! If you cared to read my first post on the match I would say Galway are top 8 when playing well but they are inconsistent so they could lose to any team on their day also e.g. Tipp, Wexford and Antrim in the AI Championship over the last 15 years or so. Is that plain enough for you to understand? Now answer my question to you!

Replying To StopTheLights:  "We're in our 5th year under Joyce and he's still talking about routinely coughing up turnovers and unnecessarily running down blind alleys. Are these not problems a manager should be addressing in his first year?????"
Agreed - 5 years is a long time to be still ironing out sloppy turnovers and many even by more "experienced" players!

Replying To backtooldwall:  "The game changed after the Limerick goalie took an 'injury"break and team reorganised to claw back lead before halftime, meanwhile Galway continued to do the same thing in the new situation which was not working any more. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome is generally called ~Insanity."
No they didn't do the same thing - Shefflin decided to go with only Whelan up front bringing the others brought back to try to "counteract" Limerick flooding the middle-third as its called now. Joe Canning stated many times that you have to be brave and "push up" on Limerick as most of their attacks start from their backline out with the short stick passes / triangles etc. Big mistake by Henry and co. and it shows that he has still a lot to learn in his managerial career. Also why were the likes of Glennon and Fahy left on so long as they were clearly struggling in that half-forward line? Monaghan livened things up a bit when he was brought on but it was too late then and Collins was just thrown to the wolves altogether towards the end. Fintan Burke and TJ Brennan should have started as they would have the physicality required for Limerick and Joseph Cooney should have been replaced much sooner as the game passed him by completely. Henry was too cautious this year picking out of form players and not giving new / fresh players like Jamie Ryan, Tiernan Killeen (I know he was injured for a while) and Adrian Tuohy who are all fast and direct a chance to prove that they could be better than what was there already. All ifs and buts now and "there's always next year" as Donal Og Cusack sarcastically remarked before the game!

Glad to see Mayo and Armagh beaten after the dirt they dished out to Sean Kelly in consecutive matches. Thuggery and "tough man syndrome" should never be rewarded!

It took a while to get going and some of the marking by the backs was very loose at times particularly in the first half but Galway could / should have scored 3 goals at least in the game to make it more comfortable. Its good to see that even with Shane Walsh playing poorly and Finnerty also not at the same level as last year (both seemed to be carrying injuries into the game) that other players like McGrath, Hernon and Cooke as well as Maher and Comer when they came on made such a big difference. Kelly, Daly and Heaney were solid. Conroy and Tierney had quiet games by their normal standards. Good to see Mulkerrin back also and Molloy is not too far off from getting back to full fitness it appears. We will need all these players to be fully firing when the heat comes on later in the championship in order to get over the line.

Replying To Oldtourman:  "Get over yourself Tommy, we have less than half your hurling population and we had 7 All Irelands when ye had a solitary one and all that was long before the McManus name was even heard in Limerick or, or strength and conditioning for that matter. It was not McManus or S and C that caused nine of that team to be over ,6'2. Anyway Finn, Lynch, Donovan and the two Casey's are not near that and can take on the biggest and best. Remember when MC gave about 8 inches to Jonathan Glynn and hurled him out the gate."
Ah come on Limerick were not really taken too seriously up to 2018 (when JP pumped in all his money to pump up the players!) as they had only won 1 AI in 78 years. Galway have won more AI's in GAA intercounty / clubs than any other county and that is a fact. We have already won the ladies club football and camogie club AI's this year and it is still very early. If the hurlers are not successful in any year there is always the footballers whereas Limerick are only a 1 trick pony.

Dublin V Galway - 3 Like(s)

Replying To Belclare1:  "At no point in your rant did you mention the fact that Galway were missing up to 10 regulars.. why are Galway favourites despite having 2 points after 2 games?"
Its not a rant - its the truth. All you do is try to make smart remarks to other posters here which is not exactly helpful but I assume you will continue doing that. Galway were missing regulars but they didn't make much difference against Dublin last year either. Its the way Galway are playing (or not playing more like) that is the problem i.e. can't defend properly or attack properly against well organised defences.

Replying To Belclare:  "Well said.. I'm sick of keyboard warriors coming on here knocking the work been done down here. I thought Liam coming on today showed how important he is. I know Kerry were missing their three top forwards but so were we. I believe we will learn from today and could meet again down the road.."
Its a bit ironic belclare that you are running down "keyboard warriors" when you yourself were calling the style of play under Kevin Walsh a choice word that began with "s" and ended in "e" on this forum a few weeks ago !

Replying To Viking66:  "Aside from Shane Cooney very similar to last years team?"
No not that similar - along with Shane Cooney, Darach Fahy and David Burke did not play championship last year plus there are positional switches. Jason Flynn may also be pushing for a starting place but may be better utilized as an impact sub. Kevin Cooney and Declan McLoughlin may also be back for the championship or the latter part of the championship.

Anyway, fine display by UL and Mikey Kiely for a fine biteen of a tressing for Galway +1. Long may Limerick success continue!"
Since when did the counties you mentioned produce top class senior intercounty hurlers? I am talking about hurling counties and as someone mentioned earlier there were more Galway players on the UL team than Limerick had!
