Try the national league thread 2020. Hurling dates and times not out yet.

yeah to be fair venues and times arent finalised until much closer to the fixture- we wait and see. either way i feel the league campaign needs to be used for the new manager to set HIS ideas up and communicate them to the players. as well as finding a couple of new players to add to the team and panel

so we finally have our ticket!!! the discussion for 2020 can ow start in earnest
for my view he needs to get a gk and stick with him- my choice bernie
a freetaker who is consistent and stick with hime- my choice rob finnerty
a method of play that is adaptable- i feel the kerry model would work with our players and would have a nice balance between attack and defence
sort out the injury situation
unearth some players esp defenders!
goodluck to PJ and the team

1) National League

Be great if some of the many posters on here could give there predictions and no matter what people predict no one should run them down it's all opinion based ,,

good idea i will get you started
national league with a new management team and system as well as likely a lot of new players i can see a slow start but hopefully comfortable in mid table with players chomping at the bit to impress pj

connacht championship with an easier route to a connacht final i fANCY a galway win against mayo with an amount of redemption for last year being the order of the day

all ireland series make the last four and who knows but in his forst year might be a lot to expect an all ireland win but dont rule it out!!!!!

Who are the breakout players for this year???

Will Mulkerrin make the jump? Anyone else?

What about some of last years new boys, will there be much improvement for the second season? I'm think the likes of the O'Laoi's should come on a lot. John Daly should get better.

Any club player that could make the leap? We could do with some corner backs IMO

Matthew Tierney will have to get a run after his club performances.
From Corofin I think Leonard and Wall will get a look if they have the interest, I think we will see molloy start more games also.
After that, McFadden from Salthill dare I say it expect a couple of Killererin and Milltown lads to get a chance in the FBD.

Win the FBD
Keep division 1 status
Lose the connacht final
Reach the super 8 where a championship exit will be made.

I could be way off the mark but I would be very disappointed if galway didn't win Connacht this year.

i feel the o laois are too light for top championship...if ian burke is in the team its hard to have another light weight forward in o laoi
if you look at the dub forwards they may not be the biggest but they are built like brick houses king con being the most obvious example
more worrying is comer having ANOTHER operation- what a mess that has been

You should have checked that yourself before saying this year. It's still 2019 for another few months BTW.

I know what your saying re O Laois but another year of bacon and cabbage with a few turnips thrown in and a bit of gym work might make a difference. Some lads don't really put size on until 23 or 24.

Re Comer, definitely could have been handled better. I believe this is a straight forward OP. Taking out a pin or screw. No big deal. But again could it have been done earlier in the summer. It's admirable that he's lining out for IM hurling games for the club but he might need to be more selfish for the sake of his wellbeing.

would have to agree re comer

when you look at the o laois or indeed any new young players joining up they need that specific s and c work to be done now over the winter months....

on a side issue ian burkes form is worrying and has been for 10 months now...got on a load of ball v mountbellew but did very little with it...as concerns galway forwards for 2020 he willl need to improve

The O Laois need to take off the Lakers jerseys! It would be great to have more Irish speaking lads in the football team. I think that's exactly what the team has been missing.

Don't agree with your assessment of Ian Burke, he was quiet enough last Sunday but he was excellent against Mountbellew, I think he even got man of the match in the Tuam Herald for that game.

Personally it wouldn't boder me if they spoke English, Irish or double Dutch as long as they were playing attacking football with a good defensive structure.
