Replying To PaudieSull1:  "Well done to u16 development squad who won the u16B all ireland today with victories over wicklow, mayo, westmeath and carlow in the final"
Hope they don't have to wait nearly 2 years for their medals as previous winners did

Well done County u16s ! Great to see some progress across all our development squads.

The championships semi finals are on today.

Portaferry v Ballygaget in Ballycran
Bredagh v Ballycran in Carryduff.

Galgets will be strong favorites but our lads will give it a lash. Crans should beat Bredagh who have been poor all year.

well done indeed to the county u16s strange how we can beat the likes of Carlow, Westmeath, Wicklow and Mayo at all under age levels but yet we can't compete at senior level, must be something going wrong somewhere

NCP beat O'Rahilly's in the u16 Shield Final this morning at Ballela. They won it with a goal from a penalty in the last minute. Tight game. Good to see the County Board turn up to present the Shield.

Bredagh win was a bit of a surprise. The Crans expected to win that.
Second semi is at 4.30 in Ballycran

Easy enough win for the Galgets. Be a very tight final!

Both Bredagh and Ballygalget a lot better than other teams in this competition.....same in league when bredagh had all their players, Ballygalget probably should have played in Antrim league too to get more competitive games

Bredagh with everyone fit and available will be hard to beat.....harder games in Antrim will stand to them

Wouldnt say hot favourites as Ballygalget have a lot of fine young hurlers too just think if Bredagh have everyone available it will swing it for them as in several positions they will have 16 yr olds marking u14s which could be the difference

Wouldn't say easy. ballycran are alot stronger than that result shows. After beating bredagh twice they muse have been expecting an easy win.

I can't see Ballygalget getting within 10 points of that Bredagh team. Like someone pointed out, the team that Bredagh are putting out in the Down U16 league is NOT the one they are fielding in the Down U16 Championship...jeez, they must have some squad of underage players to select from!

Crans didn't see that one coming. Bredagh have a strong panel but will need all their top players out for the final as Ballygalget are a good well balanced side. should be a great game. too close to call

Congratulations to the Down team and coaches on Saturday winning the All Ireland B.

Pity they can't get them up into the senior ranks then isn't it.

I think you will find that on both occasions that ballygalget played bredagh they had their full antrim league panel down and we still beat them twice will be a tight match though

If O Rawe and Costelleo are playing then Bredagh will be hard to handle but if either of them are missing then Galgets could do it.

Now Bricky you are well aware that under 16s can't play senior.

You used to be critical of Bredagh for not being able to field at minor but now that they can you're shifting the focus. If you are a hurling man which no doubt you are and a Down man which no doubt you are then you should be getting behind Bredagh who have put amazing work into promoting the the game in such a short time in an area of the county where there is no tradition. Such snide remarks are petty and unnecessary
