Tyrone open their championship campaign against Derry on May 12th and Mattie Donnelly insists the Red Hands won’t underestimate their neighbours.

Mickey Harte’s men finished their league programme on a real high with Division One wins over Cavan, Monaghan, Dublin and Galway, while the Oak Leafers were in Division Four, where they won all seven of their outings.

“We've a healthy rivalry with those boys through underage football and schools' football” Tyrone’s captain told The Belfast Telegraph. “We have come out on the wrong side of a lot of those contests with a lot of their players.

“We will never take Derry for granted. We know how good their footballers are in their dressing room and, again, they have a good momentum from Division Four so they could be as dangerous as they have ever been in operating in the higher divisions. We never underestimate the quality in Derry.”
