Replying To greysoil:  "Have noticed an emerging unsavoury tone by some posters of late. Indeed, what is surprising is the posts that are being generated by users that would have appeared level headed before. There is no place for personal slights on players or indirectly on their families. Important to remember that these are amateurs giving a big chunk of their time to their counties & for our entertainment. Keep the slagging general. We never know the impact of flippant commentary. #Give respect. Get respect."
Madge great to hear from you & so excited for you! Must be like the eve of an all Ireland final for you over there. If only RTE would have an 'up for the match' for supporters like you on occasions like this it would be great. With all our injury woes, this is probably Cavan's to lose - well that's as long as McLoughlin doesn't bottle it like he did back a few years ago - his jumping out of the way of Hughes was a game changer when we looked like we were in serious trouble. And I have something similar at the back of my mind for Moynagh in 2015. Anyway enjoy the big occasion with the big boys coming to town! greysoil (Monaghan) - Posts: 454 - 17/05/2019 16:40:09 2184997

Who will highlight the fact that Anthony Maher just blatantly took out Fitzsimmons to stop dublin getting a draw and allowing kerry win? I'm presuming the pundits who savaged Sean Kavanagh are sharpening their quills.

Should Galway GAA offer Pearse stadium to Connacht - 4 Like(s)
Absolutely not. The west brit media have fallen over themselves to create a new hype around the so called connacht success. That's not surprising as the long ridiculed pro 12 is the only competition that the irish teams have a hope in. Yet the bandwagon jumpers seem to be oblivious to this. The IRFU have pulled off a massive coup by turning their disaster of a year into a pr success. Don't give them another one. I will be attacked by the hoganstand rugby defenders association for been bitter. Well maybe so but we have underway a media driven attempt to promote rugby at the expense of all other sports. Some people need to call them out on this.

I propose that the few real cavan fans who post on here stop engaging in discussions that are designed to allow lads air personal gripes or posts that aim to belittle our teams chances. Answering them merely allows them further elaborate on their bitter spite. I propose that we either let the threads die out of non engagement or repost the original bile to the posters message. Threads like 2011-2017 Have no credible purpose and the moderator should not be allowing lads like this fellow openly abuse amateur players in the first place.

Can the GAA survive the Rugby onslaught - 3 Like(s)

Replying To GreenandRed:  "The collisions are a big part of it for supporters though, they want to see big hits. Check out the gifs and YouTube clips that go viral when there's a massive hit in the game, ignoring the guy that got hit in some cases. They need to find a way to lessen the impact of the collisions in this day and age of bigger faster rugby players, however they could do that? Just my own opinion but I think if you did a check on the impact on the body of an international 30 years ago after a 10 year career and one now , same position, after 10 years the current player would be worse for wear in comparison. That's not including possible concussion effects. But starting out playing rugby, with good coaches, where a tiny few can even get out of club to a provincial development squad, there's little chance of serious injury starting off. I think that risk increases as the level goes up and there's more at stake in games."
Wrong there. The risk is exactly the same no matter what level you play. The risk at lower level is the same because all the players are at a similar level in terms of physical development. The risk is most serious with young players of rugby. A small light fellow could end up been run over by the larger lad who gets thrust into the forwards positions. The irfu have zero regard for young players with full contact scrums, and no effort to police rucks and tackles. Can't understand how a parent would allow their child play the sport.

Replying To seanorinn:  "Replying To sceptical: "Agreed. Also, the idea that there are no scoring forwards in cavan is frankly rubbish. Let's hope that mattie can convince a few to come in. Imagine having a combination of Barry reilly, Kevin Tierney, David Givney, Conor Bradley, Martin Dunne, Ryan Connolly, Caoimhin Reilly, Gearoid Mckiernan, Cian Mackey, Dara Mcvitty, Conor Madden, etc as your forward line? The problem is getting the best 15 on the field. Can mattie achieve this? If he can get some of these on board then we will be a force to be reckoned with." sceptical (Cavan) - Posts:528 - 11/07/2017 16:42:34 2015061 Replying To seanorinn: "sceptical (Cavan) - Posts:528 - 11/07/2017 16:42:34 2015061 Same names being mentioned is there any other player's than what you have just mentioned off course there are. Who was Ramor's best forward last year lets hope he gives the county his time for 2018 Look at Killygarry's young lads and I am sure there will be many more. This year I intend to note the players I feel played well it will be interesting to see how many will be from the present set up." They are the best forwards in the county end of. Conor Bradley is Ramors best forward and was senior player of the year last year. We need as many of those players back as is possible. sceptical (Cavan) - Posts:529 - 11/07/2017 18:04:26 Strange isn't it the first five are not on the panel and the last six five played Saturday????"
Whats your point? What is strange? I merely listed the ten or so forwards who are the best we have. I then said that six of the best from those would make us formidable. I believe that Bradley and Tierney are the key two. That's my opinion which many may disagree with. Bradley is our best prospect, my opinion. I believe that Kevin Tierney has the power and directness to give us a hard edge in the forwards. Put one or two others such as Caoimhin Reilly, Connolly, or Mcvitty into that mix along with Mckiernan at 11 and you have an attack that can score. We have good potential at centre field. Buchanan, Galligan, David Brady, and maybe even the big Patterson lad off the minors. No reason we can't get out of div 2 next season.

Replying To The Quiet Man:  "============================================================================================= Cavanblueman::: My feeling is that Mickey needs to start with the young lads coming through, lads over 20, he needs to start bringing them in now and start working with them and forget about the older ones if he wants to bring Cavan forward." =============================================================================================== You say bring in the young lads that are there and work on them what about the young lads out there that never get a sniff. If the present manager is allowed to stay on which I expect that he will he has to get out there on his own and watch the potential. But I ask will he do that I expect it will no different this time next year probably worse that it is today. The top notches could not wait to get rid of the last manager well at least he took Tyrone to three points and was left down by some of players mention above on the day. They know who they are. Today Cavan are no where as good as they were with the previous manager I don't blame the present manager for that BUT questions have to be asked from those around him. Lets see what next January brings us if the same players an early end to the season once again. Looking through the posts since I logged out I see a few are seeing things the way I have mentioned thats a plus.."
I tend not to post anymore as certain people hijack every forum to vent their own personal gripes against the county board, former managers or whoever. I'm sorry but someone has to call this individual our. I in all my years of going to club matches have never once seen him at one. Whats more, I have rarely seen him at club matches in breifne, before or after illness. The digs at players commitment, club managers and people involved in this counties football are nothing short of disgraceful. This is made worse by the fact that this individual was for a long time employed by same organisation. Now if they regularly attended games I would accept the criticism but this is a personal vendetta nothing more nothing less.

Replying To The Quiet Man:  "I would just like to clarify something for sceptical and probably many on here who don't know me. I attended very few club games why you ask well it's because of what I did and as a result it was near impossible for me to go to many games. I worked 7 days a week and evenings as there was always something on either in the meeting rooms the extra pitches and even the main pitch there was alway's something going on and as a result I was not able to view many games outside the park and off course sceptical knows this as do many of you. Example if the county team were playing away you would have others to step into their place example hurling ladies underage and meetings. Easy to say I did not go to many clubs and the reason is because of what I did but in contradiction to you sceptical I did attend games but not as many as I would have liked. Because of what I did I was deprived of even going to a lot of the Cavan games as others would book the pitches and as a result I had to stay there, you know this off course., I will say however I probably saw far more games than most of you at all levels and I would certainly have been able to note any potential from the youth to the seniors so I would be close to all the potential out there that many would not, so sceptical on one hand I would have seen far more than you but at one club I would not be privy to their set ups. I am a full paid up member of a senior club as well as Club Breiffni so as a Cavan supporter I have contributed over the years. Yes I am a Cork man and proud of it never be ashamed of your roots as for me wearing the Cork colours I have worn them and proud to do so and I have worn the Cavan shirts as well and also very happy to wear them. It's okay to be from Cavan and support Man United Liverpool and Man City ect but not for me to be from Cork and support Cavan after almost 50 years living in Cavan it's a strange world. I think you would be well suited alongside the trash TRUMP and Johnson."
Look i dont want another essay. I will leave it at this. I have attended countless club and county games and have seen you at almost none. I dont care about why you couldn't attend. My gripe with you and your likes is that you have constantly sniped at county players and management since you moved on from the groundsman job. You know nothing about the club scene in cavan. Your posts are obviously motivated by a wish to get back at the powers that be. If you name an alternative squad there, as you say without the blinkers, then we can compare. If you don't know the players stop spouting uninformed nonsense.

You would be better off not following cavan football since it causes you so much annoyance. Lol Lol Lol Lol Lol John Kiely had to scrape a team together to play Cavan all he could offer them was that if they came in and played Cavan they would get to play Kerry in their first game in the Munster competition. Prior to that match I spoke with John in the middle of the Breiffni pitch when he told me the above. A few minuets before kick off he did not even have a team to start. 4 players came in through the top turnstiles with a few minuets to spare and the rest is history. To the big mouth supporters and posters here it's all about attitude attitude attitude attitude attitude attitude attitude attitude??? Some day Cavan will get a manager who will be the boss and results will follow guaranteed."]I'm reluctant to get into a debate with you as I feel you have no knowledge of cavan football worth noting. However, that Waterford game was over ten years ago. You are making it obvious that you feel short changed by some element. Look I speak for many I'd imagine when I say, go away. Take up golf, put on a Cork jersey, or START GOING TO GAMES! You don't attend club games and are a member of a club in name only, if at all. Your rants are toxic and obviously motivated by personal anger. Oh and speaking of blinkered. I doubt you could name any Cavan team based on your knowledge of the club scene. I would imagine that very few of the county lads read these threads but even the supporters need to feed off the general dismissal of our chances against our enemy at the weekend. The entire county can feed off this on Sunday. Not only are monaghan arrogantly dismissing us, as evident from o rourkes comment about coming back down to earth. In other words respect the team they believe to be inferior. The majority of posters from other counties are also tipping monaghan. Since when do we lay down for them? Make this a war. Do whatever it takes, fair or foul to beat some much needed humility into them.

Replying To hardcore:  "Kerry on Sunday...........Id be worried as they will be smarting from the Mayo defeat in a game they should off been out of sight after 20 minutes, missed at least 3 goals including a penalty as their forwards cut Mayo to bits. Hard to know were we are,one good game, one bad which is not a good sign..............A good team can put a run together and pick up points to get the job done in this division and our chance was against a poor Cavan team (have'nt a forward worth talking about) yet we couldnt beat them and only scored 7 points. On Sunday Malachy has his chance to change up our team and go for the juggular...............we are not expected to win so there is no reason for not going down there and been brave with a attacking team. Kerry will let us play football it will be open and ideal for letting us finally use our scoring forwards from the start and not bring them on for the last 10 minutes were some people think they can change a game in that time and if they dont then there no good!!! I appeal to you, have the courage to copy and post that on the main forum. Unfortunately, yous have had a class act playing up front for you who has delivered you to division one. Last week though, Padraig Faulkner showed the rest of the country what they probably already knew: If you can get close to McManus and get in his pocket then Monaghan are totally toothless up front. In fairness, yous have some honest hard working lads such as Darren Hughes and Doogan. However, the idea of saying any other county has no forwards, looking at your own countries situation, is laughable at best. What would happen yous if McManus hip injury became a bigger issue?

Replying To s goldrick:  "nobody is "so sure " our own county is going to lose. Don't denigrade true Cavan supporters who genuinely have suffered over the years and who know through bitter experience that Cavan has only won an Ulster title ONCE in 47 years. We have been beaten by Monaghan the last 2 times we met in Ulster. We got relegated this year. Monaghan did not. Monaghan had a good league campaign and performed well against Dublin. Monaghan have won the Ulster title twice in recent years. Monaghan have one of the top forwards in the country. Their Goalkeeper is arguably in the top 2 of keepers in the country. They are physically strong, fit and fast. They have improved from last year . Despite all this sceptical your are "confident" of a Cavan victory and belittle True Cavan supporters who question where this "confidence" comes from.
