Does anyone know anything about this Topic on that there could be no Relegation in any codes Senior,Intermediate,Junior,

As to something of GAA Rules and Regulations when it comes to Championship football only 1 team can be relegated...

Anyone know about what went on at the last county board meeting on monday night ??

I presume if there is no relegation that supporters who paid to watch playoffs between killygarry/ Ballyhaise and crosserlough/ killeshandra will be refunded. Also if rules for relegation were not approved should all quarter finals in senior and intermediate be open draws

I am from Cavan Gaels and we had our Secretary and Chairman at the County Board meeting last night. I was told from them that they are objecting to play a relegation play-off game until the situation is sorted out in Intermediate. The 6 clubs in the Intermediate play-off positions are arguing that it was never pointed out to them in the e-mails they recieved before the Championship began what way the relegation was working if their club were in it. The draw was meant to take place last Monday night (29th August) and run as an open draw between Templeport, Drumlane, Belturbet, Drung, Drumalee and Drumgoon. But 4 of them clubs objected to it being an open draw because they weren't told, and presumed it was working as where they finished in the table after the 4 rounds of games, 9th v 14th, 10th v 13th and 11th v 12th. Now it could of easily been resolved had a simple e-mail been sent out, but as we know the County Board don't do things the easy way. Therefore the clubs involved in the Senior Relegation are awating to see what happens. It really is abit of a mess.

I am just after reading the report in the Anglo Celt relating to the issues surrounding proposed relegation from SFC & IFC for next year. The last time we tried to improve our League / Championship Structures this problem in relation to not notifying the correct authorities on time resulted in progressive changes being thwarted. We ended up regressing

The competence of the entire County Board Executive is on line here.

And we're going to get a very clear and obvious answer as to just how competent they are! I won't spoil it for you but surely everyone can see it will end in some sort of scandal, appeal, etc etc. .

There's a real "let's see what teams end up in trouble" feel about this.

There are 2 major things the county board need to get right for the clubs;
1. fixtures (near impossible to please everyone and just about every county struggles in this dept.
2. clean and unquestionable direction in the structure of your competitions, such as permutations for relegation/promotion known in advance, score diff v head-to-head, etc.

After that, pick fair and suitable venues and officials and it's pretty smooth sailing. The clubs don't ask for much really, but get trodden on over and over.

I don't see why the senior clubs are objecting they knew the story before the champ began.
The problem is the cb.
No one strong enough in charge.
Fixtures are disaster no consideration for players.
And as for the clubs too wishy washy afraid to say anything unless it affects them.

I was just wondering how much this appeal that went all the way to Croke Park would have cost any ideas?

If proper procedure was followed there would be no need for an appeal by Cavan County Boars.

Will anyone take the hit for this c**k up which may have been costly

There will be 6 games to determine relegation 3 in Senior and 3 in Intermediate (I think), will the participating clubs share the gates from these matches?

What will be the admission to these games €5/€7 or €8?

I am not sure this is correct that 3 senior teams will be relegated.
Is this not planned over a three year period to try and have a certain number in all the levels.
I stand corrected here off course.

A v B
C v D.

Two losers go down. Two winners play each other and loser of that gone. You'd presume Gaels stay up.

Quite simple really
4 teams two rounds ,
round 1
2 Games
Winners to round 2
Losers relegated
Round 2
Winners from round 1 play each other
with the loser relegated

In SFC its Cavan Gaels v Killeshandra and Ballyhaise v Denn. The losers of these will be straight relegated. The two winners play a relegation final with the winner staying up and the loser going down so this takes 3 matches in total not including replays.

Sean you come on here going on like you know everything and in the end you know nothing. 3 to be relegated all over papers and websites last few weeks. Same in intermediate- 3 to go.

If you read my post you would not have made such a stupid reply.

Three teams go down and one up brings it down to 14 in senior. Next year another three go down and one up to have it at 12. This leaves room for four amalgamations to increase competition. It also balances out the Intermediate and Junior Championship so a stronger Cavan club will be going forward in Ulster, something we have underachieved at in recent years.
