Was at numerous games over the weekend, the one thing that stood out most was the shocking standard of refs. Where do they find these people? Ruining games and costing clubs games after working hard all year. Something has to be done.

I agree 100 per cent. But what can be done. It's hard enough to get anyone to do it and those that do get nothing but criticism even though they're brave enough.

What way does people think the Junior championship will go now.... Surely Cornafeans to lose now with Shannon Gaes shock loss to Corlough.

4 games each with top 4 going into semi-finals.
1 game tells nothing.
We wont know much till the 3rd game.

What on earth happened Lacken Saturday night? I expected them to go far this year. Am I right in thinking that they never scored in the first half?

You are watching too much soccer.
I never saw a 0 - 0 in Gaelic.

I've been at a few intermediate games and I have to say the standard is the worst I've ever seen at this level, not one side fit to play senior football in my opinion. Arva seem to have the best team on paper but can't seem to get it together on the pitch, few of the weaker sides like Killinkere and Baileboro going well but id be surprised if either made it to the final, I think its Shercocks year

Since when did 0.0 become a score draw?

I agree that none off the intermediate teams would cut it at senior level but I think its down to the quality off training and the squad sizes. None off the teams seem fit at all and the competition for places doesn't seem to be there which doesn't motivate the players to make the sacrifices to make all the trainings/bust themselves in trainings cause they know they'll get playing anyway..

Most clubs have the problem of small numbers. Playing numbers are down. Look at minor and u16 levels for league and championship. Teams are having to amalgamate to get football for the younger lads.
I noticed this about 2 years ago. We were joined with 2 other large clubs to make a minor team for the league. We played Blackwater who were Mountnugent, Maghera And Munter Connaught who had about 20 of a squad. In our division were the amalgamation of Shercock and Kinscourt. Each team had a squad of about 20 players. Total of about 60 players from 8 clubs !!

Less lads playing the game, less competition for places of clubs leading to apathy and lower standard in club competitions.

We'll see how they do versus Kingscourt first.

The club scene in Cavan is suffering big time - players are getting fed up with being treated second best to the County - they start training in January, and are left hanging around for months on end waiting to play league and championship games.
Its gone to the point now where lads are heading away for the summer months as they're not prepared to hang around anymore.

In fact, I know off a few players who left for the US in May, and returned to Ireland and have only missed one or 2 league games and are back for the Championship.

They've beaten no one yet, they'll be found out when they face one of the big boys

I think the point being made was that you don't need to add the word "score" as there has never been a scoreless draw in GAA.
so just say "Draw" and that will suffice ... You are welcome !
