Great to see all these new players getting a run out in the McKenna cup, winning is a plus . There seems to be a bit of energy about this team this year, maybe its because of players coming back to panel , Terry last year, or they just want to play for Cavan . I counted at least 10 to 12 players that haven't even kicked a ball for Cavan this year that will be part of the panel. what ever the reason is long may it last , Terry and his selectors has for the first time in a while has options especially in the forward line , strength , power lets see what they can do with it . So far I like what I see, best of luck to all

Good performance on saturday, although it wasn't UUJ's strongest panel the cavan lads were kicking some nice points from distance which can be done against any team. the only thing that has annoyed me the last 2 games is niall mcdermott going to ground so easily, hes "supposed" to be our main forward but he loses the ball 50% of the time coz he runs into tackles and falls down. Seanie looked very lively when he come on its good to see him back hope it goes well for him. OC was on fire pity he went off..there is some great talent up front on that team, just hope terry uses them right!

Does anyone else think it's a bit odd that Givney, McKiernan and Keating left at the same time and are returning at the same time? It's as if they had served some sort of collective suspension.

sshhhh. say nothing.

This is how stupid rumors start !!
Givney was out due to injury. I saw him during the year and was on crutches and his ankle in plaster.
He is a big bonus for cavan this year and more so for mountnugent.

Sean,
I was referring to Declan McKiernan. It was mentioned here that he had rejoined the panel but that seems to be inaccurate.

Dougal, in relation to Givney, he had left the panel prior to his injury, and I'm pleased to see him back. Not spreading rumours just offering an observation and asking a question. Seems others also noted the timing coincidence.

Okay I was just wondering which one you were talking about. I have not seen Declan to be honest but this does not mean he is not part of the set up. Read nothing into the coincidence these things just happen. We are only at the beginning of the year, come the national league you will like me have an idea who will be part of the set up come championship time.

Maybe more a coincidence that Anthony Forde is no longer involved and the 2 players are back.

Over the last 5 years has the Cavan Manager ever had fully fit squad to select from for a Championship or League, game, for example a Team togged out with K.Clarke, R.Dunne, G. Mc Kiernan,D. Givney C.Mackey and E.Keating ? Could 1916 be the year,oh I forgot S.Johnston. Weather bad tomorrow ,Monaghan could be in doubt yes/no.

Yes. I think they all played in the div 3 league final v Roscommon. I actually thought we played really well that day. I know Givney was a sub but he did come on and so did Clarke. R. Dunne, Keating and Mckeirnam, mackey definitly started. I think Alan Clarke was also involved that day and Martin Dunne.

Before we start dreaming too much about what we can do with everybody fit and available, this lineup was pretty close to a full panel (R. Dunne and Mackey aside)

C Gilsenan,
J McLoughlin, F Flanagan, K Brady
J Hayes, J McEnroe, R Maloney-Derham
M Argue G McKiernan
D O'Reilly, M Lyng, N McDermott
J Brady, E Keating, M Reilly
Subs: M McKeever, D Givney, P Tinnelly, T Mooney, N Murray, T Corr.

Guess what championship match?

Given that we now know the extent of the cavan panel how will we fair in the ulster championship?
