irrespective of how you look at it is very sad when you see a great team falling to a low which has not been experienced by players for probably ten years.
If you look at it this way some of these players have never seem themselves out of the Championship at this time of the year
How can a team manager/Club Officials motivate them to come back again, most of these players have won all that has to be won in Cavan and in the process have bestowed great pride on the people of Cavan Town and others that supports this great Club
I say that a fitting acknowledge should take place for this Club and its players

Tom the same can be said of the Great Record breaking Gowna team that came to an end about 12 years ago. This Gowna team won all before them after only reforming 10 years before their first Senior Championship and formed the spine of the Cavan team that won in 97.

It's always cyclical is success. Teams become dominant and last a while at the top. Problem is they tend to take their eye of the ball at underage and in about 10 years have a dip. It's being a constant in Cavan football. Laragh, Bailieborough etc. Even the two senior finalists are playing out of division 4 at underage now.

Tom you are sad to see your team in decline. There wasn't much sympathy for smaller clubs struggling to field teams over the past few years due to immigration etc. At least gales were able to field teams.
Every dog has its day, you had lots. Quit feeling sorry for yourself, and lamenting about the glory days. You have what you have, work with it and build for the future.
Its what the rest of us have to do

The Gaels will be back.no doubt about that.

From what im hearing from my good sources they are starting to make a lot of changes on and off the field already.new chairman and senior team manager to be in place in next 4-6 weeks along with new under age development officers.dont worry about the Gaels.they will never go away.there are changes coming from the chairman right down to the kit man..

I am hearing that Dom Corrigan is staying on with the Gaels next year. Yes they have a new chairman coming in but that wont change anything as he has been part of the current setup.

While I appreciate your outburst as often happens when the mighty fall I do feel for the players who have given so much to this great club and team over the years.
But I see one poster states the Gaels will be back but I don't know when as I feel I will be hard to motivate a team who have tasted victories for so long
Just imagine the Gaels players paying into Kingspan Park for a County final O the thought of it hurts

While I appreciate what you say what I meant to say that these Gaels players would not have to pay into a County finalonly twice in the past 12 years.Indeed it would be shock to the system that on a County final morning and all the hub bub that it creates that these players would be just going as spectators in 2015. I do feel for them and indeed the whole club who has such a great band of workers who provided football for many in Cavan Town, Indeed it has to also acknowledged that this Club made all players that came into the Cavan Town was made welcome irrespective of class or creed or previous football ability ie coming from a Junior club ect

While you lament the art of cheating we in Cavan Gaels have to remember that we lost a coupla County finals by being to honest and clean. If the Gaels team would have been more devious when being intimidated we would have won more in the last fourteen years both leagues and Championships.
The Gaels fellows like a lot of Town players are honest to God good clean stylish footballers who rarely retaliate on the football field

How tomsmith get his posts printed il never know . I bet he ain't even a Gaels man . I personally think the Gaels went a bit stale this year. Their record speaks for itself . Never lost a semi final in 15 years. I believe that next year they will be back stronger than ever . The few lads I've spoke to can't wait to bring that cup back in memory of the great JJ Reilly to past away lately. JJ with the respect he got throughout the club will be the driving force behind a serious push for a county title . If say they will be even harder to beat next year than they ever were.

While I refrained from rising/taking the bate I relation to my posts I have to support probably Cava's best team I the past 20 years ad maybe I the past 50 years I feel that this team should still be a force to be reckoned with I the next few years.
It would be very sad if this great team just melted off the radar and not to make a comeback.
But the Gaels team has great pride and it hurted them to go out of the Championship at the semi-final. Indeed a lot of these player never seem much/many defeats---amen

Tom the gaels are not finished thats for sure.

I am not a supporter of he gaels but if I took them over in the morning I guarantee you they would win several senior titles for the talent is there it's just a matter of utilising it. No club in the county have the pool to draw from as Cavan Gaels have.
With the right men beside me and get rid of several who are hanging about calling it the way they think or who should be playing ect you would be pleasantly surprised.

Sean I am sorry but but I feel that you are not correct this time.
I feel that this wonderful Club in the heart of Cavan Town is in transition, and it will take few years before this excellent team is a force to be reckoned with again, these words I say with a heavy heart. I do not feel taking in asupporter from another club would improve matters.

They will win the county final next year with positive football. Only way to go

The problem with the gaels underage structure is what's coaching them. Long gone are the day's of the respectful coach, now sadly it's all about cheating no respect for anyone and sadly what the young see the young do. Just go to underage matches and listen to what is being shouted from the side line and even the stand is it no wonder the game has dropped to a rotten disquieting level.
This is not just for the gaels this is for most clubs coaches & players alike.
Time first and foremost the coaches need to be thought how to behave and failure to do so should result in loosing their coaching badge or certificate.

One thing for sureteh Gaels never cheated in aCounty final. Indeed perhasps the coupla finals that this great team lost by decisions going against them ect if the Gaels were a devious team these fellows would have won more finals.
That said I do hope for the sake of Cavan football and Cavan Town's image that this team regroups in 2016 and that the Gaels players never to have to pay on a County final day untill 2020
