With Terry entering his last year in charge, should the county board be looking for a replacement.. Oisin McConville would be the ideal candidate in my eyes a proven winner as a player and his record as a manager is not to bad either, his crossmaglen and Dundalk I.T teams play a lovely brand of football,, I really think he should be approached sooner rather than later

Terry has improved us from the low level we where at when he took charge, but this will probably be his last year,, I think the team needs a new voice and a more attacking philosophy,, I just think McConville would be ideally suited, he is a legend of the game which means all the best players will want to be involved if he were in charge, from what I have heard from some Dundalk IT players he is very capable of getting the best out of his team,, I think efforts should be made to have him lined up to take over next season

I have talked to Terry many times and his passion and love of Cavan football is without question but tactilly he is very poor and is slow to see what changes are needed... His persistence with slow build up play and packing the defence with bodies is a kop out and shows little imagination for a coach... McConville would be an excellent choice to take over but money may dictate matters as its the reason Terry is still over the team.... Terry is a good guy who is out of his depth but let's hope we get enough polnts to secure Div 2 football next season

When Terry steps down (and a sad day that will be) Peter Reilly should have first refusal if we wants it. Lost 3 Championship games in 3 years with the U21s by a combined total of 3 points, by anyone's standard's that's impressive. People want to follow the approach of the big counties? Then appoint an internal manager, show the up and coming managers within the county that they will not be passed over for a "big name". It will improve the standard of coaching within the county as a whole and help continue Cavan's upward curve.

If Mr Hyland stands down ?? there is only one man in Cavan for the job and if he gets better which I hope he does and thats Joe McCarthy from Kingscourt not one manager in the county or potential manager could compete against this mans tactical knowledge. Peter Reilly stepped down from the U21 because Joe would not be beside him this is not a reflection on Peter but on what Peter thought of the man. So for me only one person in Cavan for the job Joe McCarthy Kingscourt. By the way he was there when all the U21 titles were won.

Sean things have definitely deteriorated since the departure of Joe McCarthy .He definitely had a passion for the game and tactic wise we certainly have gone backwards. I personally believe he had an understanding of the lads that came through u21 and knew how to get the best out of them. You may have a valid point its certainly worth thinking about

Thank you for that "asitis" Joe is a special breed of person and I have no problem saying there is not one in Cavan or any county surrounding us that understood the game as Joe does. Sorry I don't read the Celt to be honest for I am not sure they know what type ball we even play with. As for Northern Sound why not bring a radio to one of the matches put an ear piece in your ear and see if they are watching the same match as you.
Sorry for repeating myself but should they play like they played against Derry I feel they will win what matches they have left that is assuming they play like the game against Derry.

Has anyone got a record of Cavan's attendances for both league & championship for the last, say 10 years? People are saying attendances have dropped, but I wonder by how much? is it to do with the football being played? recession? higher cost of attending games? or of course there may be other factors.

I think you'll find a lot of people on this forum and elsewhere are indeed saying these things, and even more cringe-worthy is the claim that Cavan will go the rest of the league unbeaten. What kind of boast is that? We're propping up the second division along with Armagh, our injury list isn't any worse than other teams, and we've an appalling home record.

The reality is, there are people on this forum who are genuinely happy to see Cavan lose, losing matches by the odd point or two is seen as the new winning. "Big deal if we lost by a point, didn't we score such and such an amount", and then they'll use this as evidence that our game plan is evolving so we should be pleased about it. This is an established mindset among many posters.

How do you know Terry is in his last year? Whats to stop the co.board re-appointing him?
