Should be looking at a facile win here and a nice weekend away for a session.

Who was saying our 'international series' was a bad way to prepare for the championship, we got a good insight into our opposition :p

Seriously though, this should be a good chance to try a more attacking approach. Would like to see us let the shackles off and get the ball in early.
Should be a good weekend for anyone lucky enough to be heading over.

i found this article strange on the home page.
It says "the draw could have been a lot worse" It goes on to say we might have got the losers of Donegal v Armagh or Tyrone. Well know we couldn't have got those , as it was pre-ordained that they were in pot B and we were in Pot A. In fact the only "tough" draw we could have got was the loser of Laois/Kildare.

SamuraiBlue - The real championship (Anglo-Celt Cup) is over for Cavan - the qualifiers are a complete waste of time for most teams, with the exception of the the GAA as it increases revenue and the big guns, because it gives them a second bite at the All-Ireland. Cavan have no hope of making any progress beyond the Q/Finals, so apart from trying to justify the qualifiers as extra games for those players who have trained so hard during the year, there is no valid reason why they should continue.
If you take Cavan in 2013, what good did a drubbing against Kerry in Croke Park do,

Deanmartin, I never seen someone so bitter sad and negative,
you really do have a problem, do you think no team should
play unless they are sure of winning allireland,

Winning a provincial title must be the number 1 goal. We had 7 months to r prepare for Monaghan and blew it. Now we are going to clap ourselves on the back for beating teams like London and other div 4 teams. Loads of future is blue dung is all we will hear. Hylands Ulster championship record is poor. His qualifier record is no great shakes either despite a quarter final appearance. Time for a change I think.

Why are people so obsessed with this 7 months that we had to prepare for Monaghan??? Didn't they have the same amount of time to prepare for Cavan? We lost by a point and I think that we have a good change of a good run in the qualifiers. We are not Dublin. We have no divine right to beat everyone in front of us.

I do see where people are coming from with criticism and I am not knocking that but lets keep things in perspective. The only difference between Cavan and Monaghan was an all start corner forward called Conor McManus. Fact. We are still in it and can have a good run this summer still. Killian Clarke to come back in and Mackey getting fitter with each training and game. Smile will ye!!

Blueman - theres no bitterness, I simply say it as it is and Im not afraid to, unlike alot of people on here. If you want to accept mediocrity and pretend that a run in the qualifiers constitutes something good, I suggest you join Cavan 97 & the proTerry brigade in a new thread, or better still, sure why not contribute a weekly column in the local paper asking us all to lay off the current management set up and telling us how wonderful a job Terry has done in the last 4 years.
And then you have reformation telling us that the only difference between Cavan & Monaghan was Conor McManus!! You see, thats the problem with alot of people on here, they think ONE good performance against Monaghan and suddenly we are as good as them.
So REFORMATION, tell us, what benefit will a good run on the qualifiers do?

Awwwwnow/Deano, any new thread will be hijacked with your drivel anyways! Its one thing giving out about management, which is a given because they are the ones the buck stops with, but you never even acknowledged the players and the effort they have put in over the last few years. where is your post of congratulating them on job well done in Division 2. Instead give out about management and blaming them as the sole reason the players have left. where is your post welcoming back Josh Hayes? But you had enough to say when he left. No one can have a discussion here without your miserable rhetoric. Question? when Terry & Co. go and new management are in place, will you still be a moaney hole or will you man up or shut up

Job well done in Div 2????you serious?? We blew promotion by losing 2 home games we had in the bag against Kildare and down. How we ever going to improve if people accept average. Yes clap clap we survived div 2 but we should have and could have got promotion.. Anyway let's give ourselves a few claps for our 1 point defeat to Monaghan!

deanmartin/awwwwwwwnow. please stop posting on this thread, if you think the qualifiers are a waaste of time then why get involved in the conversation. why not start up a thread of your own and call it"I hate Cavan" you can post away there to your hearts content, yourself and sean1916 and a few others of your ilk. You must have posted about 300 posts in the last few months and they are all saying the same thing. It's boring,it's annoying and it's wrong.

It was good to hear Pat Spillane say on the Sunday game live that the 2 best games he seen so far this year were: Donegal v tyrone and Cavan v Monaghan. the people on here who are saying that cavan should have a facile victory over London are secretly hoping that that is not the case. Remember this is our county and our fellow Cavanmen that you guys are disrespecting.

I cannot see the logic in the statement " all that can be gained from the qualifiers is a quarter-final, we have no hope of getting further". I have never heard such a ridiculous statement . just what exactly do you expect from this team. personally I would count a quarter-final as a very good year... we are not able to compare ourselves yet with the likes of: Kerry,Dublin,Cork,Mayo,Donegal,
so if we did meet one of those in the quarters I would expect us to be beaten (no shame in that). But in 2 to 3 years I can see us competing better with the likes of those. we are going in the right direction.

Imagine. Just imagine for one second if Hyland had not implemented the doomed negative football that he ultimately had to abandon due to its futility, and instead implemented the sort of game we saw against Monaghan instead. Had we been using that more direct system for the past 4 years, we'd be Ulster champions by now. Perhaps twice over.

S Goldrick when do you expect terry to seriously challenge for an Ulster title? Or does it matter to you? I know we are team building since 2011 but when does the team get even half built?

Look, all this talk about team building and inexperience is all meaningless rhetoric at this stage. That was acceptable 3 or 4 years ago, give the new management a chance, this excuse is simply no longer plausible, the time to make the mark has passed and they failed to make good on the promise of the underage success. I'm not saying it's too late for an upturn in fortunes, just not with the current management.

We saw what a youthful Waterford did to Cork in the hurling, you won't hear any future is (insert relevant colour) stuff emanating from them.

Oh dear. I feel a real sense of cringe having people like you and your other alias posting here and making us look like fools to the rest of the country.

But I will address your question. Did you ask, what will a good run in the qualifiers do? Not much apart from....

- Give us the possibility to play in Croke park for the 2nd time in 3 years of championship football!
- Allow us to integrate some younger players into our team
- Pit our wits against strong teams from other provences
- Give our younger players more experience
- Attract more supporters back to follow us with some good performances
- Have us competing in the best sporting competition in the country
- Allow the young stars of the future the chance to see their hero's in action
- Possibility of another local derby against Meath or Fermanagh

What club are you from Dean? Do you go to their games? As far as I can see, there are no dominant powerhouse in Cavan football right now. Why do you go? Why are you here? Why don't you go away?

Leave genuine people like Goldrick/Cavanman47 and many others with something of worth to say, hereto discuss football matetrs in a meaninful way. I won't ever be addressing or replying to any of your points or questions in the future so farewell my friend. And don't forget to keep that glass of yours half full! :)

Don't forget we didn't score in a half of football. That point has never being raised.

I don't really care who manages the Cavan team as long as we --

1. Give our best.
2. Select our best players.
3. Play attractive football.

I'd say every supporter feels the same way.
We now have plenty of very good footballers in the county because of the 4 U. 21 titles.
It does worry me at times though that we're not making the best of these players. Also as someone said already that none of the two teams who contested last year's County Final started against Monaghan. How does that happen?

Did Nial Murray not start against Monaghan, Martin Dunne and Michral Lyng also came on.

I agree that Barry Reilly probably should be getting game time. I think a few other Kingscourt boys should be there but I believe Philip Tinnelly left the panel , not sure if James Farrelly is still on the panel now that Ray Galligan has been drafted in.
I think Padraig Faulkner and Joe Dillon are both injured. I am always impressed with Barry Tully when I see him playing so maybe he should get a call up. is Maloney-Derham or the Meehan's still involved with the panel.Turlough Moooney is injured I believe.
I think there is a good spread of clubs involved. and I wouldn't argue with the current squad
