Just going through some previous posts here and seen some comments about Terry being an unsuccessful coach at club level in Cavan, that may be true but nothing beats experience and man management skills and the ability to build a strong management Team. In my book Terry is to Cavan what Sean Boylan was to Meath, he obviously knew what he was doing by bringing McHales in whilst losing Joe McCarthy and Peter Donnelly

Bringing in McHale has coincided with us been more attack minded this season...people were on here bemoaning the loss of P Donnelly but months ago I was glad to see the back of him as his influence was too defencive and negitive... Early days yet but we are showing more signs of been more attack minded TG... Two tough home games comming up before we head to Galway for our earliest starting time for a while...?

Bottom line he is brilliant at building a management team around him and he has the respect of the players. Hes almost like a director of football within the county. He has had the benefit of working with a lot of high profile managers in the past and learned from their mistakes, i.e. Andrews, Carr, etc.

I don't think he worked under Carr, Peter Reilly and Niall Lynch were the selectors, were they not?

I think everyone is entitled to their opinion regarding players, people pay good money into games so let them have a say as long as the criticism is not over the top (like Joe brolly's rant towards Sean Cavanagh). My earlier comments where criticisms of a player who has not made one or two mistakes (that's expected these are amateur players) but a number of errors that have either cost us a game or put us under serious pressure and obviously I am not alone in thinking this as other posters have the same view. Heads can drop when a goal is conceded and as we all know, in division 2 this year, scores are harder to come by to recover any mistakes. Any poster on here that says they have never been critical of any player has a bad memory!

No one man is to be thanked more than Terry Hyland for injecting some pride back into the county jearsy in the last five years, pride on the pitch, in the stands and pride on the terraces. He doesn't always get it right but then, neither did/does Micko, Heffo, wee Martin, Gavin, Cody etc but dammmit he's more right than he is wrong nuf of the whinging.

i think at this stage we all know how you feel and you are most definitely entitled to your veiw all i am or was saying is that over a four years your going to have mistakes and how many goal chances and pts have been missed that have or could cause game loss any way time to move on

sidelineview , you speak as if you are talking about highly paid soccer player. "we pay good money". that's what soccer fans say when questioned as to why they boo their own team or shout abuse at their own players. fair enough these highly-paid stars are earning more money in a day than some supporters earn in a year. but with GAA players, these are our family, friends, neighbours, clubmates, schoolmates etc. they are not getting paid and put in a phenominal effort to get to the level that they are at. If they are to be critised then it should be down to the manager and coaching staff to do it. Imagine If Joe Brolly's comment was directed towards one of our players instead of Sean Cavanagh, Imagine if it was aimed at your own clubmate or friend, brother . how would you feel. That is an extreme case but it comes from the fact that people think its ok to aim personal critisism at amateur players.

well said !! next we'll be having a pop at minors, u16's and underage players. It's easy to find fault. Let look for the positives in all our players. When they do make a mistake, encourage them even more because their confidence will be shaken - love the sinner but hate the sin :-)

s goldrick - if your quoting me, I didn't say we, I said people. As stated previously, I am entitled to my opinion - if you don't like it then fine but get off your high horse and don't start preaching about about criticism of amateur players - in your 3000 + posts I would think there is a criticism in there somewhere. Pundits, analysts, columnists, supporters, rival supporters all while analyzing games will make critical remarks, that's the way it is - if you don't like the heat, get out of the kitchen. I was pointing out facts (not fiction), facts ... (which numerous other posters here agree with) - its amazing, tell lies and your loved, tell the truth and your hated ... we will end up paying for mistakes in the big games sooner or later and you can't deny that ... end of discussion.
