I'm quietly positive about Sunday to be fair. I was at the Tyrone V Donegal game and not taking away from the Donegal performance, Tyrone were absolutely dreadful, and despite being dreadful, they actually came back at Donegal.
Sunday is a final and is anyone's game, but if Cavan are to win it, they need to be at their absolute best and eliminate any errors. Armagh opened up the defence 3/4 times and should've scored a few goals so the defence needs to be tightened up. Michael Murphy gave a man of the match performance against Tyrone, but like I said, Tyrone were dreadful, so if we can keep Murphy someway quiet, it will be a positive stop towards winning our first Ulster Title since 1997.
What impressed me about Cavan this year is their patience, when Monaghan and Armagh started to come back at us, we didn't panic unlike previous years, we remained patient, moved the around the ball around and picked off our scores.
I remember a few months ago when a little village in Longford played a big club from Dublin in the Leinster Final and not many people gave them a chance, so I think our secret weapon on Sunday will be the manager, I think he has the ability to outsmart Bonner.
But whatever happens, Cavan Football is back on top, and hopefully we can stay there for a few years.

Looking forward to Sunday, even managed to bag myself a few Gerry Arthur stand tickets, hope it doesn't rain for all those season ticket holders, if you dont know by now, the GAA doesn't give a hoot about season ticket holders or anyone else for that matter, sponsors and the hierarchy will be looked after in the first instance once the provincial finals come around, same with the All Ireland finals, sponsors and hob nobs looked after first!
C'mon the Blue Men, bring the Anglo Celt back to Town where it belongs, looking forward to the big parade in Tesco Car Park on Sunday evening, Monday booked off.

there's only 4 days left to a day that we waited 18 years for, sad when you think of it really!! i'm excited and nervous in equal measure. i'm going to enjoy the build up anyway and we'll see what the rest of the day brings.
I cant help but think that this inevitably will be donegals game. I do think they probably see themselves as the team that can take down the Dubs and if they beat cavan sunday they'll be on a collision course.
cavan do have a chance though and maybe the introduction of Argue to the middle of the pitch could be a wildcard move to add size to counteract Donegals physicality in murphy, mc gee, Langan, Thompson. I can definitely see ciaran Brady starting too. because regardless if Donegal go for pace on the flanks or not we're going to need it to counter attack, and we'll especially need that pace if i suspect Donegal set up more defensively in the first half to take the sting out of cavan.
As mentioned before cavans kickout strategy has to be absolutely perfect and by perfect i mean upwards of 75% retention.
it has been mentioned before that cavans defence was loose enough in the armagh game and that they could've had 2 goals in the first 5 mins, that is true but i don't think that period of time was representative of cavans defensive record this year. we're talking about a team here that had one of the best defensive records in the division 1 league !!!
one other point ill make is that Donegals defensive shield has been tested close to goals where its effective. ball after ball against Tyrone was mopped up and moved back out the field. A lot of cavans scores come from further out the pitch.
the weather aswell is going to be very important, a wet day could spell disaster for cavan (which reminds me of a donegal club team that are known for their defensive football when they won the championship a few years ago, the morning of the final at mass the priest prayed for rain as opposed to praying for their team to go out and play well) hahaha

I posted earlier on a forum saying we would win well. Don't mean any disrespect, and would welcome a Cavan win if they are the better team on the day. Any team who try and break the norm, without disrespecting Cavans past, is a welcome addition and good for the gaa. Safe travels to everyone and may the best team win. Until Sunday.

Kickouts are a glaring weakness for us, there's no question about that. We struggled against both monaghan and Armagh with them.
I'm hoping Cavan go short with them and build from the back. We simply don't have the options to go long. Clarke will be CHB and Gearóid will be CHF so, there's our two best ball winners not playing midfield.
If donegal push up on our kickouts we could be in trouble.

You say about Galligan's kick out's as it stands with his long kicks there is no need for a midfield player when he is kicking long so you need a good strong half forward line supported by one of the midfielders every time so the second midfielder can pick up the break downs. Galligan fails when he tries to kick short to the side lines for the majority he will kick out over the side line. It's not for the want of practice I can tell you. The problem for tomorrow for Cavan is that Donegal have players that one man will find it hard to mark and they are well capable of exploiting any weaknesses in the Cavan set up. Cavan don't have the luxury of being able to man mark, Murphy on his own is worth 3 men. He will be all over the park he puts up phenomenal milage during a game
Have the team being named when you say Clarke will be CHB and McKiernan full forward. McKiernan will be listed as FF but will be in the middle as usual.
In Galligan's defense Cavan don't have a goalkeeper of his calibre at the moment and he made some vital saves against Monaghan and Armagh. A lot of credit must go to him for Cavan being where they are at "tomorrow". The best of luck to all in Clones.
