The Cavan Under 20 Championship is starting this weekend Division 1 4 Teams Division 2 12 Teams Division 3 6 Teams
Each team will get 3 games before knockout stages. What teams would you expect to be in the Final of each Division?
Fixtures for this weekend on the Cavan GAA Website.
Is the Cavan management team for 2019 at Under 20 the same as last year?

Div 1 has 4 teams who will play 3 matches to see who will be seeded 1 -2-3-4 in a semi final. You could concede all of the qualifier games and be positioned 4 in the league - You still get a semi final place and if you were strong enough 2 games could win it out. No sense to it all -
there are 10 teams in div 2 - Why weren't all teams into a hat , drawn out for each round and the top 4 teams into the Semi for div 1 next 4 into semi for a second competition and same for div 3 -
No sense to Div 1 as it is and Div 2 will be most competitive....

Who do we reckon will win each division?

Div1 - Surely Crosserlough will walk it however Lough Uachtar I feel will pose a threat
Div 2 - Seeing as Kockbride were in Div1 Minor final 2016 hard to look past them.
Div 3 - Denn

Nope just 4 and Lough Oughter Gaels have already conceded the first game because they can't field a team. Ridiculous situation in Div 1.

Div 1 only has 3 teams absolute disgrace. I expect crosserlough to walk it as they easily beat southern gaels (gowna and lacken) in round 1. Nathan Galligan Peter Smith and Patrick lynch an excellent full forward line.

Division 1 looking like a cakewalk for Crosserlough and probably would have been whatever way it was organised in fairness to the CB. Unless Southern Gaels were bluffing in that group game for the final as they have a lot of good players..

Laragh would have a good few guys who played at Intermediate level this year and would tip them to win D2.

Ballyhaise for D3.

Is it true that templeport got players from Aughawillan in Leitrim and also from Ballinamore and still could not even get to a semi finals in div 3 with numerous senior players who was over them is maguire smith Martin and Beatty still there ?

Wouldn't get too caught up with the u20 Championship, its a tick box exercise from the Co Board, its on the calendar, lets get it organised and get it over with. I'd say 60/70% of the most players playing in the competition have played no football for their clubs this year, partly due to the Co Board lowering the u18 grade to u17.

No forward thinking in the Co Board at all. They have u13 development training going on the moment, yet when those guys get to their late 17 or 18, there's no football for them except for some silly u20 competition run over 4/5 weeks.

Just reading your post cavanblueman regarding nothing for players aged from late 17 to 18?? I presume the so called special players are involved with the U17 and the U20 so why not set up a competition for these players that are ignored and give them a competition to compete in and make it special. By special I mean all the special players that are in on the county panels cannot play in this competition for they are the deemed special ones and allow the players and punters see that many are probably far superior to those that have been selected as the special players.
Many out there can relate to this post and understand where I am coming from for everyone knows what's wrong when selecting the so called special players. Same in most counties let me tell you.
So to the clubs why not fight for a good competition for these players and let me tell you it will also show us that there are better players watching games that should be representing the county instead.
This competition can be run without interference from the county Board set up as they the players have been deemed not good enough to be part of the county panels and no club can use it as an excuse to call off a game. If clubs buy into this great however if clubs want nothing to do with it then it's fair to say the clubs are the reason why the best are not getting match time and a chance to show they too are special one's.
Common sense don't you think.??
Don't mind amalgamations if clubs have say 6 players in the age bracket and they cannot field a team they should be allowed to register with another club near their parish so they will get playing football ( they can only register for the period from they are late U17 to late U18???

Get the ball rolling on that Sean bring it up at your club AGM and get them to push other clubs to run with it.

I only made a suggestion and I suppose as usual people don't see any sense in it but my post was my way of facilitating those that people are not good enough but you and I know there will be many that would show their potential if given the chance. It might also show that those that were not privileged to get onto the development squads that they have what it takes without them. ???

Participation in the u20 competition seems to be very poor.

Cavan Gaels conceding a Division 2 Quarter Final against Laragh. Worrying times for them.
