The death of Michael Joseph ('Mike Joe') Mulligan, Lacken, Ballinagh occurred on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017 at the age of 87. A strong, hard-working farmer and family man, Mike Joe also had a great passion for sport and was an ardent supporter of Lacken Celtic. The Mulligan family enjoyed many great days out at club matches and are synonymous with football, camogie and ladies football locally, while Mike Joe himself was renowned as a very talented handballer, winning countless tournaments. He served as chairman of Lacken Handball Club and vice-chairman of Cavan Handball Board. As a large crowd turned out to pay their final respects at St Michael's Church, Potahee, Lacken Celtic GFC provided a Guard of Honour.
