McCabe, Hugh

Gaels throughout Fermanagh, Cavan and much further afield were deeply saddened on Sunday, May 28th, 2017, to hear of the untimely death at the age of just 62 of former Fermanagh centre half back and county manager Hugh McCabe from Belcoo, a man who made a big impression managing club teams in the Breffni County. Hughie lined out for his native county for more than a decade. He was appointed Mullahoran manager in 1997 and led them to the league title. The Dreadnoughts went on to win the championship the following year. Hugh McCabe also managed Templeport to the 1995 intermediate championship and had stints with Dromore and Errigal Ciaran in Tyrone as well as managing Fermanagh in the early 1990s.
