Meath played a decimated Carlow side ... 6 of our players out , Brendan Murphy, Sean Murphy red, Chief scorer Paul Broderick injured after 7 min Gannon injured, St Ledger and Eoghan Ruth blacks. I would predict an 8 point win for Laois.

County Managers - 2 Like(s)
Novalis, you hit the nail on the head there. Turlough O Brien took that job when we had no success...after many years of allegedly 'high profile managers. How he turned things around for the better and changed the mindset of the players. We were very unfortunate tbis year with very small margins going against us. I hope he is re-appointed. The man has a passion for his county that most CB members wouldn't even understand.

Qualifier Round 2 - 2 Like(s)
We arrived 5 mins into the game yesterday to find Carlow were already 1-1 to no score down and no Brendan Murphy who ... is playing his best football recently. I was expecting a hammering at that stage from the DIV 1 county. But from then on I would say Carlow dominated throughout the field till just on half time/injury time when a few silly errors led to Cavan scoring 3 unanswered points. Cavan ran at us early in 2nd half but we stayed with them. The goal with 19 mins to go def changed things. St Ledger's free-taking was immaculate, Gannon's workrate was phenomenal. Hats off to the entire panel and management for the enormous effort they put in despite listening to negativity from within the county. I feel they are certainly improving but need more players committing for the league. If we have a full panel I feel we can certainly get out of Division 4 next year. Well done to all.

Haven't seen Joanne yet but I have it recorded. Thank God for the remote control. A couple of years ago I became so frustrated and annoyed at the negativity and the putting-down of football by Brolly, Spillane and co that I recorded every Sunday game rather than listen to negative mantra live. I can then ignore the "analysis" - for want of a better word and just watch the game highlights. Btw when I do this I realize how much waffle there is and how little game time is shown . Sky have it spot on, Canavan is great. Always informed and logical analysis. Good luck to Joanne in her new role - hammer them Joanne, they might stop talking rubbish.

Novalis, you make some good points and observations in your post. I agree we need fresh coaching ideas at this stage. There's something we all forget - that the management are closest to the overall situation. As in training, attendance, attitude, off the field behavior etc. They can only pick the team they feel will do the job. I am sure they go out to win every game. Last year it worked '- defensively we were strong, promoted, we scored 4-31 in games vs Kildare and Louth. This year we had very small margins that went against us. If we had Murphy, Murphy, Broderick slso maybe things would have been different. Let's look forward to 2020 with new game plan and an additional group of younger players.

Hopefully the journey can be extended on Sunday. No reason why we can't take Longford. We are only missing Sean Murphy from last year's side because Brendan didn't play championship then. Enough negative talk

Replying To carlowman:  "I agree that tomorrow's match v Laois is a real test of where Carlow footballers are at. A lot of pace from defence up and the team is playing a nice fast style. The challenge is to get more scores and not be relying on Foley from frees. Midfield has been good in open play but not great at aerial ball. Moran is a very big loss as he was slotting in well into the defence and was very strong in the tackle. I"
Good luck to all tomorrow. I'd agree we are young and learning and the game vs Laois will bring this new nucleus of players on in leaps and bounds. We are certainly in transition but I saw a bit of fight in the lads when down to 14 for whole 2nd half vs Wicklow. We were 3 points down and our fitness level in those last 10 mins was impressive. Can't make it tomorrow but will be tuned from Birmingham !! Up Carlow.

A bit of perspective on our footballers one point defeat to London!! Our great period in 2017/18 with all our stars plus Turlo and Poacher. Only a couple of new players on the field. On 12th Feb 2017 we played London in NCP it was our 2nd Div 4 game Final score: Carlow 0-16 London 2.15 Interesting we were calling for Turlo's head, style of play etc etc. Those very same players got us promoted to Div 3. and gave us some of our best championship perfomances for many many years. It may take a year or two to build again so hold your powder and get behind your county. Ceatharlach Abú

Meath V Carlow - 1 Like(s)
Even allowing for the fact that there's 3 divisions between Meath and Offaly Meath still beat them by a decent 0-02, Offaly were not in disarray going into the game like Carlow was, for example, we had no manager, no coach, no star midfielder as in Brendan Murphy, things went from bad to worse after 12 mins we lost our prolific scorer Paul Brodrick through injury, we then lost Sean Murphy for retaliation after the offender got brownie points, Carlow then lost Sean Gannon injured and that was hard to take, we also lost center back D. St Ledger along with Eoin Ruth (2 black cards) It's anyone's guess why he dished out the black cards, as for the red card well I'll leave that one for you to decide. Meath played a depleted Carlow team from the throw in, after 12 mins Carlow began to lose 4 quality players that they simply couldn't afford to lose but so be it. I would question where Meath goes from here after failing to put Carlow away when they were gifted the conditions to do just that- If the negative posts coming from the Meath camp is anything to go by, suggesting that Carlow played negative football, what will be their excuse when they play Leix. supersub15 (Carlow) - Posts: 1890 - 27/05/2019 22:43:14 2188360

Replying To CARPS:  "If you're saluting Leix, you ain't a "Carlowman." You're a troll... I wish there was some way to mute folk on here.. dude hates Carlow's most successful management for decades, but loves Leix!!"
I think you hit the nail on the head there Carps. Sounds like a Laois man living in Carlow with a vested interest in Carlow doing well but doesn't have any love for Carlow. Take a look back over many pages of 'Carlowman' posts and it explains a lot. Definitely has it in for the Carlow Management who may have put him in his place at some stage.

Dunphy and Broderick impressive today. Josh Moore and corner back Bambrick did very well. Good to have a mix of experience and youth. Biggest score from this Carlow team in a good few years. Some good movement in the forwards also. Just to say it was a great lift to be able to see Carlow and the other games online/TV. Hopefully the Championship gets the go ahead.

What an awful thing to say about your own players Daith. A very good, committed, physically-fit Carlow didn't let Kildare play. We were better in every department. Take your beating and acknowledge what Carlow are achieving. Good luck in the qualifiers!!
