Kavanagh a doubt for Carlow

Carlow star Marty Kavanagh strikes a free against Dublin

Carlow are set to be without star forward Martin Kavanagh for Sunday’s crucial home fixture against Laois in Division 1B.

The Barrowsiders lost their top-scorer to a hamstring injury before the interval of their 14-point loss to Waterford in Dungarvan on Saturday night and the St Mullins’ clubman is now doubtful for this weekend.

The losers at Newatch Cullen Park face relegation while victory for Carlow would see them in a healthy position for a quarter-final berth before their final round game against Offaly.

"I suppose Marty on any team would be a loss but that's why you have a strong panel. He has been leading from the front, he has been a top class for us, but we haven't ruled anyone out," Bonnar told the Irish Independent.
