Douglas minor footballers played in two different grades this year.

A Cork GAA club is appealing a raft of suspensions handed down to players and officials in the wake of their recent minor football league success.

According to The Echo newspaper, bans ranging from 12 to 48 weeks have been proposed for 16 players and seven juvenile officials from Douglas GAA by Rebel Óg East after the club's minor team played in two different grades this year.

The city club won the Rebel Óg East MFL Division 1 final against Aghada recently, having also won a Premier 1 league and championship double in the Rebel Óg Central division. Rebel Óg East maintain that Douglas were not eligible to play at a lower grade in the same season and have recommended the bans which the club are appealing to the Cork GAA Hearings Committee.
