Michael O’Halloran posted eight points as Blackrock advanced to the semi-final stages of the Cork SHC yesterday.

Last year’s defeated finalists finished with nine points to spare over St Finbarr’s in their quarter-final clash at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

They led by 0-10 to 1-5 at the change of ends and Tadhg Deasy netted their goal on the three-quarter hour mark.

The Rockies will face 2013 champions Midleton in the last four following their minimum margin 1-19 to 2-15 victory over St Finbarr’s.

Midleton trailed by 0-8 to 1-8 at half-time but late scores from Conor Lehane (free) and Cormac Beausang saw them take the spoils.

There’s a quarter-final double-header scheduled for Pairc Ui Rinn today with Sarsfields v UCC (2.30pm) and Imokilly v Newcestown (4.15pm) set to do battle.
