Once the members of his backroom team were staying put, Colm Collins was happy to commit to a seventh year as Clare senior football manager.

The Cratloe clubman was ratified for another term at the helm of the Banner County at last night’s County Committee meeting and, speaking to Clare GAA TV, he revealed: “The important thing is that we have a fantastic group of people working with us and as long as that group wanted to stay I was prepared to stay.

“We are all delighted they have committed to staying.”

Looking ahead to 2020, Collins’ primary objective will be to get the players to realise their full potential.

“The most important thing when you are working with any group of players is to get the most out of them, to get them to play to their potential, to give them every opportunity to achieve what they can achieve.

“That is basically it, so whatever group ends up in our panel for 2020, that we can achieve with that group of players. That will be key.”
