Davy Fitz set for Wexford stay

Davy Fitzgerald will remain on as Wexford hurling manager for a fourth season.
The Clare man has been contemplating his future since July's narrow All-Ireland semi-final defeat to 14-man Tipperary. It was expected that he might step aside, having led the Model County to provincial glory this year.
Fitzgerald was reportedly on the verge of moving on last year but was convinced by the players to remain on and oversee ongoing progress on Slaneyside. It appears that the Banner County's All-Ireland winning goalkeeper and manager still feels that there's unfinished business in Wexford!
Since the heartbreaking defeat to eventual Liam MacCarthy Cup winners Tipp, Davy Fitz guided his home club Sixmilebridge to the Clare SHC. He made more than 100 treks from Clare to Wexford during the course of 2019 but his love affair with the Model County is such that, according to reports, he'll agree to a new two-year term in charge in a bid to steer the Purple & Gold to their first All-Ireland since 1996.
