Having being on the wrong side of a one-point defeat in the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers, Clare captain Gary Brennan admits that it will take time to get over the loss to Meath.

The Banner will feel that they had a great chance of reaching the Super 8’s and the fact is that they did, but for some unforced errors costing them in the long run.

Meath were relieved at the final whistle, but it was utter disappointment for Brennan and his colleagues; admitting to the Clare Champion that now is not the time for reflection.

“We got back to round 4 again and hadn’t been there since 2016 in the last 12 but, ultimately, it is hugely disappointing. It will take a while before we will take any great pride from it,” stated Brennan.

“We were concerning them without ever really having them panicking. We didn’t create enough in the second half and the turnovers in the second half, a bit like last week, we were coughing up the ball. It was costing us but if we had been able to create a few more chances, we might have been able to trouble them but that’s the way it is.”
