Clare will spend the night in Waterford before facing them in the Munster SHC at Walsh Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Banner got the chance for a dress rehearsal when they face Waterford in the NHL quarterfinal at Walsh Park in March.

Joint-manager Gerry O’Connor admitted to the Waterford News & Star that they learned a lot from the trip and one thing was that it was too far to travel on the day of the game.

“I think we definitely learned that it’s not a journey to make on the day. That brings it’s own logistical challenges. We would be used to playing in Limerick or Thurles or Pairc Ui Chaoimh,” said O’Connor.

“You set out early that morning and everything is manageable and there’s a routine attached to it. Whereas when you head for Walsh Park, it does add another layer of challenges that’s for sure.”

He added: “It’ naturally a very tight pitch. The crowd are going to be extremely vocal I’m sure and they’re going to be very close. I’d say the Clare support is going to be outnumbered significantly.”
