Unearthing new players is what the league is all about and Clare joint-manager Donal Moloney is confident that they have done just that.

The Banner County look to have booked their place in the HL1A quarterfinals following last weekend’s draw against Limerick.

They are currently second in the table, but the four teams beneath them all have to play this weekend in rescheduled games.

However, Moloney is happy with the campaign either way as he feels that some players have really put their hands up for a place on the starting XV for the Munster SHC.

“The campaign as a whole has been very positive as some new guys have come along like Rory Hayes, Shane Golden, Diarmuid Ryan and Gary Cooney there in the second half,” Moloney told the Limerick Leader.

“We are very pleased with where the squad are at as we head forward to the championship. We want to continue to perform every day we go out and I don’t think you will see much of a change from league to championship in terms of intensity and passion.

“There’s only six or seven weeks between league and championship this year and teams aren’t going to reinvent themselves in that space of time.”
