Anybody watching Tyrone today?
How far are we of that kind of quality.
Took the sting out of Down in the first half and then did a demolition job on them in the second.
Some of their passing was outstanding.
Different planet to us.
Minors put up a good show.

found the comment by Mickey Hart about Padraig Hampsey who was outstanding today very interesting, he stated that the lad got very little game time last year, but was part of the squad and he kept working and improving and is now one of their main men. Contrast that with the number of players who drop out of the Cavan panel cos their ego won't allow them to be bit part players. Guys who have achieved very little in the game, but believe themselves to be stars, and if not a regular starter then the take their ball and go home. No appetite to work harder and force their way on to the team.

That's what you call a u21 manager stepping up to the task!

That's what you call a u21 manager stepping up to the task!" You're ignoring my posts didn't last a day lol.
No one is debating that Harte is one of the best, if not the best manager out there. However, even he has not total control over our if control player egos.

Having participated and listened to many debates and points of view since the Tipp game, my opinion remains that we have the players to be more competitive but the main flows are still as follows;
Game plan - We need a system where players know their roles. Where we struggle is when we have possession and we move it slowly. We need players who can take responsibility on the ball rather than just passing to someone else.
Mentality - The eternal struggle for Cavan teams. Do our players ever really believe that they will cause an upset? Do they believe that Cavan can win tight games and cause an occasional upset? We have been on the end of too many small defeats over the years.
Mattie needs time to make his mark on the team and we have to give him a chance. Calling for his head is pointless at this stage. Nobody is happy about the manner of how we lost to Tipp but we have to take our medicine and move on. Lets not forget, there wasn't much of a queue for this job, despite the fact the new manager was inheriting a large group of former Ulster minor & U21 winners who were moving into division 1. We need to get back to our clubs and try to encourage our younger players and work with them. We all have a role to play in Cavan and thats what I intend to do over the next months.

Nothing to do with game plan or mentality. The problem is the lack of quality and intelligent footballers in Cavan, majority of the players simply not good enough.
I wouldn't question the mentality or the commitment, as those guys give up a lot of their time, but sadly, they dont have skills that most of the top Counties have in abundance.
And until the club scene is fixed, Cavan Football will keep going down.

A kick out strategy is one of the simplest thing to practice. Work on it for few weeks. If you go long and it's not working then you need other players creating space or getting free to take kick outs.
If we're playing a zonal defence which it looks like then every player needs to know their job and who or what they're responsible for. Bring players back is not enough on it's own unless there are clear instructions.
When breaking the ball needs to be kicked if possible to an outlet in full forward line. If it's not on them go through the hands with players running of the shoulder and running good lines.
Try long range scoring every now and again to draw a defence out.
And if a goal chance is on go for it. Too many times we fist over bar. Shows a lack of ruthlessness.
