Meath took 20mins to get a score. Cavan went well early on and had 1.03 on the board. But when Meath got possession they used it well. They were much better in second half but with poor shot selection. Both made several changes at half time so it wasn't a classic but a worthy exercise for the fringe players and should be lessons learned for both camps. Cavan stole it at the death but did get some fine points to keep in touch. Meath should have won by 6pts.

Cavan severely weakened it at half time., five u21s introduced.
Gearoid Mac,Gerry Smith,Mackey,M Reilly,J McLoughlin the standouts in the first half.Jack Brady and James McEnroe started as did U21 Donal Monahan at full back who I thought did quite well for a young player making debut.Big Liam Buchanan started midfield with Mossy.Good to see Padraic Faulkner back too. Does anyone know how serious the injuries to Killian Clarke and Dara McAveety are,two crucial championship men.Caoimhin Reilly looks like a county senior,Young Fortune did well too,Ryan Connolly kicked a couple of good scores,David Brady made debut too.
