Belturbet club notes

Happy New Year

We would like to wish all of our players, coaches, managers, supporters, sponsors and committee members at home and abroad a very Happy and Prosperous New Year. Thank you for all your support last year and we look forward to hopefully having a fantastic 2020 on and off the pitch.

AGM

Belturbet Rory O'Moore's AGM will take place on Saturday January 25 at 8.30 p.m sharp in the Function Room of the Seven Horseshoes Hotel. All members and players are asked to try and please attend. As our club Chairman Mark, Secretary Paul and Treasurer Alan will be stepping down from their respective roles we would ask that new willing and able volunteers step up to the mark and endeavour to fill the vacancies. The club is presently in a very strong position with all development works due to be completed before the AGM, or adequate funds in place to complete same. A change of personnel every so often is vital in all clubs to ensure continued growth and the possibility of success. We would hope that some of you would show courage and trust in yourselves to commit to a suitable role. Nomination or motion forms can be obtained by contacting Paul via 0876682677 or email at [email protected]. We would ask that all motion/nomination forms be returned to Paul no later than Monday January 20th and furthermore to avoid delay on the night, if anyone intends to nominate somebody for a position, to ask that person before the nomination form is submitted to Paul if they are willing and able to take up that position they are nominated for.

Oskars

WOW! WHAT. A. NIGHT.

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for our biggest social night ever, ‘A Night the OsKaRs’ in the Slieve Russell Hotel on Saturday December 28. It was a tremendous success and a night which will long be remembered. Thank you to all our amazing actors, actresses and producers without whom the talent and quality on show last night would not have been near the standard at which it was.

Thank you to all our sponsors, to our joint main sponsors Donohoes Centra Belturbet and McGuigan Solicitors for their unfailing support of this event along with all our wonderful OsKaR, Film and associate sponsors. Thank you also to  Kevin Rowe Events  for all their help in the organising of this event and to Dave Harrington for his very talented performance as MC. It was a pleasure along with our fantastic judges, Sheila Reilly, Sean McMahon and Paul Cox. A MASSIVE thank you must go to the fantastic OsKaRs committee who’s tireless work over the last 6 months ensured the success of the evening. The committee have spent endless hours in the organisation of the event and deserve plenty of credit. The purpose of the OsKaRs was to raise funds for the further development of our facilities at Rory O’Moore Park, to compliment our already completed 2x all weather playing fields and our 1.5km walking track and that will now be possible starting with the installation of a new stand and the upgrading of our car park. A special word of thanks also goes to Lorraine McElgunn Teevan who provided the club with loads of photos from the night and as always we thank her so much for being there to capture the special days which we have in our club. A special word of thanks must go also to Kevin Fay and staff of Fay’s Coaches who provided an absolutely fantastic shuttle bus service on the night.  Kevin and his drivers must be complimented on their superb courtesy to all who availed of the shuttle bus service both to and from the Slieve Russell Hotel, whilst also dropping many rural people at their door. Kevin and his crew are the embodiment of great community men and from all the OsKaRs committee and the club, we say thank you. We really hope you all enjoyed your night and that the memories from it will live long in the memory.

Erne Gaels U20s

Congratulations to the Erne Gaels(Drumlane & Belturbet) U20s and management team who won the Division 2 Championship Final replay on a comprehensive 3-11 to 0-9 winning scoreline when they defeated Dernacrieve Gaels in Ballyconnell on New Years Eve. The squad of players put in a huge effort over the last number of months and it was fantastic to see their efforts rewarded with bringing home the silverware.
