Reserve Championship Final
Cornafean 2-16    Killinkere 2-20

Unfortunately it was a disappointing end of season for the Reserve Reds as the team just came up short in an enjoyable Reserve Final against Killinkere played in Terry Coyle Park on Saturday evening last.  It was a beautiful evening for football, the supporters were treated to an open game of football and in the end it was possibly the more experienced and physically stronger east Cavan men who overcame the hard working and youthful Reds squad.  Cormac Cullen and Niall Sheridan were dominating the early exchanges around the middle of the Park so the Reds forwards were seeing plenty of the ball.  Jack Trainor was on his game dictating around the inside forward line and kicking some great points.  N. Sheridan and  and A. Smith also kicked some beauties from play but Killinkere also had some lively forwards especially Damian Sexton who was a constant thorn in the Reds side setting up and scoring excellent points. With the game very even before the break a quickfire 1-2 from the Reds compliments of a Wayne Johnson point.  James McGahern goal and another Trainor point left Cornafean a goal to the good at the break on a scoreline of Cornafean 1-9  Killinkere 0-9.  The early moments of the second half were ones to forget for Cornafean as they were rocked by goals from Killinere with D. Sexton and M. Smith finding the net.  It was Killinkere who were now bossing the match in many of the vital areas but in fairness Cornafean did not lie down.  Points from A, Smith and J. Trainor settled Reds nerves once more and on the 15th minute Jack struck for a goal and a point to bring Cornafean level at 2-14 a piece.  It was game on once more for the last quarter but the Reds ,managed only two points one each from Sub A. McCaffrey and C. Cullen.  Killinkere who seemed to grow in confidence as the game went on kicked 6 points with dangermen Sexton and D, Smith doing the damage.  Hard luck to the Reds after a great effort from players and management all year.  The football year may have ended somewhat prematurely but the panel of players is now a good mix of youth and experience and no doubt there is definitely much to look forward to next year.  Thank you to the players, the management team of Paul Lynch and Paul Brady, Water Man, Kit man, physio and first aid personnel for all your efforts.
Scorers Cornafean..J. Trainor 1-8, J.McGahern 1-0, C. Cullen 0-3, Aodhagan Smith 0-2, N. Sheridan 0-1, W. Johnson 0-1, A. McCaffrey 0-1.
