Fr Seamus Hetherton with former GAA President Aogan Farrell

Cavan GAA is in mourning following the death of Father Seamus Hetherton.

Fr Hetherton was a part of the Cavan side which defeated Meath in the 1952 All-Ireland SFC final (after a replay) by 0-9 to 0-5.

Orginally from Ballydurrow, Ryefield, Virginia, he lined-out in a half-forward line which included Edward Carolan and team captain Mick Higgins at Croke Park where the Breffni County captured a fifth Sam Maguire Cup with victory over their neighbours.
