Cavan's goalkeeper Raymond Galligan celebrates at the final whistle

Cavan goalkeeper Raymond Galligan says victory over Monaghan on Saturday evening “would be a huge scalp” for the Breffni men.

Monaghan have held the upper hand against their neighbours in recent championship meetings and are 8/15 favourites for their visit to Kingspan Breffni this weekend.

Speaking to The Irish News this week, Galligan says the Blues are eager to upset the odds in front of their home support.

“We owe them one at this stage and it would be a huge scalp for this Cavan team because they (Monaghan) were a top four team last year and got within a kick of a ball of getting to the All-Ireland final,” the Lacken clubman stated.

“They’ll be looking to recover that sort of form now for this year’s championship.

“People will tell you that Monaghan have the Sam Maguire Cup on their radar but that suits us fine. We’re only thinking of getting over them, nothing more.”
