Football Update

Underage success for the Cornafean LAdies on Tuesday last when the U15 girls became Division 3 Champions after a titanic struggle against a strong Bailieboro Team played in Stradone.  Congratulations to this group of girls and their management team of Liam Young and AnnMarie Cullivan who over the last number of years have moulded this group into a very fine team.  Well done to the U13 boys who got their championship campaign off to a positive start with a good win over Lacken in Cornafean on Sunday morning.  Best of luck to the Senior Reds this weekend when they take on Ballyhaise in a relegation play off.  Time and venue to be decided.

CLUB NOTES

Cornafean Ladies U-15 team won the Division 3 Cup defeating Bailieboro for the second year running in the final. This was a super match contested by two evenly matched sides with Cornafean only pulling away in the final 5 minutes.  It was end to end football with some great defending and attacking by both teams.  A half time the Reds were up by 1-10 to 2-05 with Amy McIntyre the main scorer for the Reds.  The second half was again evenly contested but the Reds greater team spirit and skill eventually won out on a score line of 6-17 to 2-14.  Meabh Masterson and Aoife Young kept the backline tight.  There was a serious workrate from Lucy Hogan and Lucy Cullivan in midfield and Amy McIntyre and Fiona Morrow were good upfront.  Well done to this group of players and management team of Liam Young and AnnMarie Cullivan for their hard work and commitment throughtout the year.

Team: Tara O'Rourke,  Ciara McGill, Meabh Masterson, Laura Smith, Aoife Young, Aine Brady, Lucy Hogan, Lucy Cullivan, Emma Finnegan, Amy McIntyre, Carrie Tully, Sarah Cullivan, Fiona Morrow, Brianna McCaffrey, Shauna Flood, Aisling Sheridan, Amber McIntyre, Cara McIntyre.
